I just watched the open workout before the fight and he was hitting the pads as a southpaw. But if that is the "only" problem he had i dont know.
Briedas didn't look great scrapy performance.I think he may be injured?.I have always thought he does better against HWs he can hit very hard and I think the slower big guys are easier for him to hit .I hope he moves up soon.
He was never "elite." He just wasn't. Very highly ranked, yes. Pretty odd that that tried to get pushed around here. Everybody scored that fight against him by 6 points last night.
I’d go along with that,Dillian Whyte took at least four fights before he could use his repaired shoulder. Doesn’t Briedis still work as a policeman or something?
The guy has shown that when the big fights come along he can rise to the occasion.. sometimes fighters just have off nights & personal issues going on that affect their performances..
Like I said earlier on in the thread. He only had one good hand against Gevor. Against Usyk, Dorticos, Glowacki (controversy aside), Charr, Durodola, and to a lesser extent Perez (way too much holding), and most of his other fights he looked great Old post I saw a post on YT probably about a week ago (a week before the Gevor fight) saying that Briedis ''can't use his power because he has an injury'' ^^ I'm not making that up. And I saw this on there too ''Briedis had a surgery on his wrist and is still recovering from that. Not sure why that is kept quiet. So pretty much he boxed Gevor one handed. But he has serious issues in his camp, that need addressing asap'' And this is what his former coach said Former Coach, analyzing the Last Fighting Deer, lists a number of things that Mairim managed to show a better boxing. "Mairis jumps on top, heads up, he's sitting on jajb, but there's no sequel. Mairis works well with jab, but you're on the right hand. But the reason is already known to many - the good hand was hurt. So you can say that this He won the fight with jabb. I do not want to go too far because Maira's mistakes are being corrected by his coaches, "says Klein in a conversation with Sportacentrs.com.
Based on last nights performance i'd have to say whatever perceived that he lost, he has more than made up for it.
8 rounds that's a push man. Usyk was getting ruffled like I've never seen before till the sixth, wasn't boxing his game at all till after that just reacting to being picked off. Usyk did come right back into it after that, couldn't say he won every round after that tho. So 8 rounds seems very harsh
Usyk told that till this time this was most difficult fight for him to win so who does know better, Usyk or forums. Ask Usyk.
I am a huge Usyk fan, I remember seconds before the decision was announced, I geniunely had no clue who'd get the nod, I scored it 7-5 Usyk, but could have easily been 6-6 or even 7-5 Briedis which would be difficuly to justify but not impossible
Me liked both of them. 0 shittalks or insults even in their local media on next opponent. Respectable attitude despite they might had rise attention with common in " another world " must have talks and so on. Boxers not PR stars.
That fight was close f#cking glad I wasn't scoring that one. If you blinked missed about five shots great fight
