Andre Ward or Roy Jones Jr, who ranks higher at SMW?

RJJ has the best overall win but Ward has more depth.

 

Do you mean the son of goat who fight only in Oakland, choose who want to fight during the Super 6 tournament, head beat Kessler, beat a broken jaw midget Abraham, Miranda? The only significant win of son of goat at 168 was Froch and is true that this one is hat off victory.

 

Froch and Kessler @ 168. The rest of his wins @ 168 are really nothing special, or different then what a lot of other top guys have done with some top contenders. Ward's resume is more of legend than reality.

 

This is the only way to look at things for me.

It's why I rate Toney so highly, despite other fighters having much deeper resumes.

Ward has a deeper resume than Roy. But then so does Calzaghe. And like Calzaghe, Ottke has many title defences to his name. So they achieved more. But personally, I always rate on ability.

A prime version of Roy was just a better fighter than what those guys were.

Glass Jaw Roy had very few fights at the weight one of which was Vinny Paz for christ sakes. He was never THE champion at Super Middleweight.

 

If your going off body of work and achievements in the division then no questions asked, it has to be Ward.

However if your going H2H and single best win.... plus the fact he may as well have worn a cape in the ring during his short stint at SMW as he was that damn good......... then Roy.

 

Ward owned the 168 division, RJJ just passed through it. If RJJ had stayed at 168, I'm sure he would have dominated it but he didn't so Ward rates higher as a 168 fighter.

 

Ward really had only two big wins at 168, Froch and Kessler. Most of Ward's other wins there were simply what other champs do, beat mere contenders.

 

RJJ didn’t have any challengers at 168. He would have beat Ward and his top two opponents at SMW on the same night. Did Ward ever beat anyone outside of Oakland at 168?
