I would have included Povetkin but it was such a ugly fight nothing signature about it.

That depends upon what he did when he got warnings.
Very likely the same thing would have happened as in Manilla: after the relative farce of the second fight clinch-fest, the Frazier camp sought & received a fair referee. And after a couple of warnings they did not need to deduct points from let alone disqualify Ali.

Without that rational & fair officiating, we would have been deprived of one of the Greatest Fights Ever.

He did which is why I was so puzzled I couldn’t pinpoint a win that stood out. It was that confusion that made me start this thread. Ali had Liston, Foreman. Tyson had Spinks. Holyfield had Tyson. Bowe had Holyfield... etc etc.

I’m not trying to say anything about Wladimirs overall career. The man held the championship for a decade and few can claim that, like I said I was genuinely curious.

P.S. Gatti and Ward had each other as signature wins. Wins people remembered them for the most.

Wlad's legacy is far from perfect, but at the end of the day, he was a two-time titlist with 23 combined defenses, with some very good names on there.

    -No great names
    -No exciting, "signature" fights
    -Fought mostly smaller guys
    -Some embarrassing losses
    - Split the division with his big brother
    - humiliated himself by claiming to be poisoned.

Yes, these are all knocks against him. And yet he is still a top 15 heavyweight, maybe top ten, because, well, 23 defenses with a lot of very good names.

After seeing old Povetkin vs AJ, Hunter and Whyte it should be obvious to even the worst haters and trolls that a prime, in shape Povetkin was a dangerous opponent. The fight wasn´t pretty but Wlad did his home work and gave Pov zero chance. And that version of Pov would have crushed Wilder and probably beats AJ, Ruiz, Parker etc. Fury´s size and awkwardness would likely be too much tho.

You're talking about someone who isn't Wladimir Klitschko mate.

Ali had a lot of favourable officiating. Illegally loosened ropes against Foreman, dodgy cards in all Frazier and Norton fights, allowed to endlessly clinch, if he was caught having his gloves torn open against Cooper he would've been DQ'd. He's very overrated in my opinion.

You're talking about Volodymyr Sydorenko. Not spelled the same way. So I know you think you're being clever but you're not. He spelled it Wladimir for the casuals who can't say it properly.

The Chagaev win was impressing. Chag kept coming forward and keep the pressure on, but was controlled With Wlads size, power, skill, amazing jackhammer jab, and reach, and was taken apart

David Haye impressed me most. Before that Peter but version who fought David Haye in that bouncy ring would not have had same problems with Peter

Who can forget his one shot left hook knockout of Eddie Chambers. It didn’t even look like it had that much behind it, but he had such power in both hands it was amazing

His kOing Ray Austin without ever throwing Even one right hand

and the missile right hand that caused Brock to go cold before he hit the mat

Sometimes being too successful takes away any signature win. Wlad easily beat Pulev so it's not super impressive. If Wlad had performed a little worse and won a narrow decision over Pulev, rematched him to a controversial close loss, then beat and KO'd him decisively in a third fight it would be a very memorable trilogy and easily Wlad's "signature win". However, because Wlad was more dominate and took him out fairly easily in the first fight, it just gets kind of brushed over.

If Ali KO'd Frazier in 5 and never fought him again it would have actually detracted from his legacy even though it would be a better performance.
