I don't understand why Dubois is such a huge favourite here, at least on paper. But, the industry seems fairly confident that he wins, and they aren't often wrong .....
People love a big puncher, Dubois for all his faults does seem to hit hard and physically looks the part. I think many see Joyce as a fighter that suits Dubois' style, he's there to be hit and Dubois won't have to chase him. I think this fight is Dubois' first real test as a pro, it's his Tony Thompson to David Price moment. He'll either sink or swim and he's the favourite because much like with Price before Thompson people are projecting their hopes and expectations in what he potentially could do and not seeing what he's actually done. I see the fight going one of 2 ways. Dubois is simply too fast, too powerful and Joyce due to his style can't get out of the way and gets KO'ed. The 2nd scenario I see is Dubois finds Joyce doesn't just fold like everyone else and is gradually pushed back and made ineffective on the back foot and ground down and stopped. I'm favouring Joyce. He's not pretty but I think he's damn effective. I think he has the more varied jab, the better footwork and movement and when Dubois stops throwing he'll be all over the youngster and Dubois' power won't be enough to keep Joyce off him.
Glad its not on PPV. Some of the upcoming Matchroom cards shouldn't be on PPV either.. They should be double headers , not single headers. Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has launched an attack on Sky Sports for their decision to have three pay-per-view shows between now and the end of the year, accusing the network of a “money grab” and saying it was “immoral” to charge people extra to watch boxing when so many are suffering financially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
I want to see this one. This fight should not be happening for Dubois, who has not proven to be able to take punch, or deal with a pressure fighters. I think Joyce, who has a proven chin hit by several in the amatuers who can punch, and puts people on the defensive will be too much for the inexperienced Dubois.
Am I the only one who isn't confident picking either man? I think Joyce is limited and Dubois very possibly overrated. I will generally pick pedigree over hype though.
Yeah, I honestly don't see how anyone could think Dubois has better footwork. Joyce actually moves pretty damn well for a guy his size, while he's not light on his feet, he's usually moving he doesn't just stand there right in front of his opponent like Dubois does. I think Joyce's movement is his most underrated attribute.
I'm picking Joyce but I'm far from confident. Joyce was stopped early twice as an amateur, he's a slow starter we all know that and Dubois does like to come out and throw bombs, as his 11 early wins, 4 in the first round shows. There's always a chance he bombs Joyce out before he warms up.
He sometimes likes to skip around jabbing and slipping and it's when he does that I see that he can actually be a tidy boxer when he wants. Nice footwork for a guy of his heft, people are underrating it, I agree.
There is that possibility yeah, again, I'm not confident either man takes it. Thank **** that's the case though because a real 50/50 is what British boxing needed at heavyweight.
