He really blagged people man. He never ever was top 3, someone like Joseph Parker bangs him stupid and he’s maybe not top 5. Id hazard a guess there are maybe 10 that would beat him h2h, since Fury 2 I’d say he’s done, he got smashed up
Not a source he actually came out and said it himself on the pbc podcast.. The guys around him are 100% incompetent and I’m not talking Al Haymon or Shelly Finkel.. I was a huge fan of his but after all the barking he did to AJ after losing to Ruiz one would have expected him to handle his loss better than he has.. Even though I didn’t like his safety first approach in the rematch I gained a tremendous amount of respect for AJ on how he handle the whole situation after losing..
Wilder faces the problem of being found out. People have said long before the Fury fight that if someone stands on the inside against him then Wilder loses all his ammunition, he cant get leverage on his punches amd he cant fight on the inside. Essentially he becomes a pumchbag. Technically he is up there as one if the worst world champions ever but he has dynamite in his hands and is a good athletic specimen. Luckily for him most boxers bought into the fear factor of his power which deterred them from getting on the inside in case they got caught on the way in. Now theyve seen Fury donit and the results every opponent he fights will try the same thing. Of course not every opponent is Fury so he will catch some of them trying this if they arent skilled enough but I reckon a good pirtion of the top ten can utilise this to put a beating on Wilder now. Joshua, Ruiz, Parker would all be capable of this. I think Usyk could adapt a gameplan that works as well though his skillset is very different so I dont think he try and beat Wilder up. Povetkin could do it but is just as liable to get caught looking for it. Whyte I think would be made for Wilder and he should pursue that fight if he bests Povetkin in the rematch.
It all makes sense now. Deontay was injured coming into the Fury bout, and was too hurt to throw any power punches. I hope the Wbc give him until June, when his arm gets better. He deserves another 6 months to get back to his best. Shades of Stiverne 1 and Stiverne 2 again. Lol.
Wilder is what you call a Grade-A Idiot. He turns down $120,000,000 to fight a TWO-fight deal with Hearn Does not take step aside money from Top Rank to face Fury later Does not take a warm up fight Lets his Fury rematch clause time-line expire. He could have THREE seperate incomes right there. Instead he does not even have anything lined up. And now he is injured and will come back with zero confidence against someone who could easily outbox and KO him if he catches him unprepared. He overestimated his own importance and his management team fleeced him. If he loses again they will abandon him and look to bleed someone else dry. I hope for his sake that he has a brain between his two ears and saves some money and doesnt go on to life that "thug life" like Adrien Bonehead.
Comedy will strike hard soon, so unfair to boxers who will be hyped and end up as a one punch KO loss on Wilder record. Tyson Fury remains the only threat to Deontay Wilder (due to range), Tony Yoka is borderline dangerous tall order. Other than that everybody in boxing is one right hand away from getting disconnected. Naturally Wilder retiring will be pleasant news to the horde of vulnerable prey.
He landed it flush twice in the rematch early on and Fury (who isn’t packing granite) took it without a bother. No way is he the hardest hitting fighter ever. Another myth by this handlers with the typical hyperbole.
Damn when you lay it all out like that it does seem like he's made some very poor decisions of late. Refusing the DAZN deal was dumb, I doubt we'll ever see a fighter who at the time wasn't a proven PPV draw walk away from that kind of money again, unless of course they are signed to Haymon who puts his business ahead of the fighters best interests. He put too much trust in those around him, though you could say that was loyalty to those that helped him get to this level in the first place. But that's still a hell of a lot of money he's walked away from for that loyalty.
Wilder sure as hell had a weird career thus far. Most people expected him to trip up somewhere along his long line of mediocre opponents before making it to a title shot. Then he got his shot over more deserving people after clearly weak Stiverne won the vacat WBC belt. Then defended it no less than 10 times, with a couple of come from behind (or should be behind) KO wins fighting mostly mediocre opposition, and never a really legit #1 contender. Had a "draw" against an out of shape Fury, and then got mauled by a mostly written off Fury that struggled (and could have been stopped on a cut) against a no name the fight before. The people who managed him knew what they were doing, because they got the maximum out of it. But they also thought more about their own bottom line as Wilder's when the big buck started rolling in.
Tyson hit very hard, but his effectiveness was largely due to speed, accuracy, defense & combinations. Some in his own era had harder shots in single punches, usually from right hands. Tua, Old Foreman, Morrison (left hook), 3 guys he fought-Bonecrusher-Ruddock & Bruno each times two. Vitali hit har due to his size, but most everyone calls him an arm puncher & many including his Brother Wlad hit harder for single shots.
Yes. I got Vitali and Wladimar confused. Because I'm only interested in recent foghters, its easy to get these guys confused/
Anyone like to see Wilder vs Whyte? Should Dillian beat Povetkin in his rematch, they'll be leading contenders for the WBC mandatory when or if that's ever enforced. So if AJ vs Fury takes place, why not have those two square off, both seeking some redemption and each capable of selling a fight.
