I'd go with Froch's outboxing and grit to find a way to win. Froch is huge out of the ring though, I think at 175 he'd probably at least as big and strong at the weight as DM. The marketable fights were all at 168 at the time.
LMAO at Froch 'outboxing' Michalczewski. Froch was known to walk around near 168 all year. He wasn't a huge super middleweight by any stretch, and if he was, he likely would have moved up to light-heavy when the division became ****. Dariusz jabs Froch to oblivion on the way in.
Froch mixed it up with much better opposition. Dariusz was outboxed in Rochiagiani 1 and play acted to get his opponent DQ'ed. He was outboxed by Gonzalez. And he was outboxed by Hall in their first fight. Note Hall was stopped on a semi closed eye in their first fight, while Michalczewski wasn't in the rematch when his eye was much worse. His best wins are a past prime Hill who was coming off a clear gift decision against Del Valle and old Rochiagiani who was old and innactive. Meanwhile he didn't face the best boxers in the division such as Jones Jr, Reggie Johnson, Tarver, Harding, Del Valle. Didn't fight Maske either.
I think Dariusz should be favoured here simply as he is the bigger fighter with the better jab. But I do agree with the things CharlesBurey wrote. Dariusz is a bit overrated here if you look at the circumstances of his wins and the fact that he only fought in protected Germany,
This is a 50/50, anyone claiming it'd be an easy win for either guy is IMO biased, Michalczewski was very good and the naturally bigger man but he wasn't difficult to hit or particularly quick - hands or feet. Could see this going the way of the Froch-Kessler fights, Carl loses a close decision first time around (depends on the location of course) but after making the necessary readjustments wins a rematch.
You're overrating Michalczewski. Taylor, Kessler, Dirrell (controversial in fairness), Bute and Pascal are probably better wins than any of Michalczewski's
I'm not saying that those aren't better wins. I rate Froch higher, in his own division. But he didn't out-box them guys. I laughed at the idea of Froch out-boxing Michalczewski. Not beating him.
But was he in “ fight “ shape ? Every fighter is heavier when not in full training mode. Hell, DM probably weighed as much as a heavyweight when not in training.
I think DM beats Froch down, personally. I just wanted to confirm a point - Froch is painfully overrated on here.
I do think Dariusz wins but I also think you are the one who is overrating Dariusz. Many folks are not really familiiar with him and just look at his record.if you ignore the circumstances of his wins and the fact that he only fought in protected Germany, it is easy to overrate him ( see post of Charles Burrey above) . I have the highest respect for Carl, he was always willing to face the best
