I think Brook was one of the best talents Britain has ever produced, very much a hard luck story. Let’s be real though, Brook is never beating a prime crawford 3 and half years after losing the way he did to Spence. Can’t blame him at all for trying to keep as much money as possible before retiring, boxing is a business - good to luck to him. I think the fight will be a thoroughly one sided beatdown.

I don't blame him, wish him luck, but I'm going to do my best to avoid all the pathetic soundbites and interviews from the buildup to this fight. It's a parody of what boxing is supposed to be.

But is presumably missing out on a decent UK TV fee which Eddie said in his recent interview he would've been willing to pay from his Sky budget had he been involved, also trainer fees , promoter fees etc are all tax deductible therefore only cost around half their % to someone earning a decent purse so they don't have to bring much more to the table for them to be value for money.

He more or less trained himself for the Zerafa fight and it almost finished his career. Trying to save pennies can seriously affect or stop future earnings.

I think that’s the point though, there’s no future earnings after this fight - this is it.

Yup cashing out. Can't say that I've ever warmed to him.

    Won't be missed.

I think it was a reflection that he was already done. In some ways Khan did us all a favour by not granting him the fight him and Eddie were trying to make. He's a shadow of the fighter he once was.

what a shame his career is ending in this way.

Since he won the title over in the US, its fair to say his path has been anything but straight (pardon the pun)

I was a huge fan, and really thought he could have made some super fights, but that weird incident in Spain and his weight issues ever since have cost him a real legacy.

No one to blame but himself unfortunately.

Any idea who he plans on training with for this fight? he could do worse than Shane McGuigan

Cash out by Kell. No split for the promoter and a cheap training team for this one.

I'll be amazed if this is anything other than "Special K" retiring on his stool in the middle rounds.

Everyone on here calling it a cash out, I’m not so sure it is that straight forward. The Dominic Ingle thing seems bizarre but they have obviously not had the most harmonious relationship recently. It’s not the first time they have split. Breaking from Hearn is simply about getting the fight on the right terms. I’m almost certain Hearn said that Brook wanted PPV but it wasn’t possible and I think Hearn and Arum are going to find it very difficult to do a fight together at the moment. Nothing to see in that regard for me.

Personally I think Brook is one of the best talents domestically over the last 20 years. Obviously mismanagement and some bad life choices have hurt him but he’s still had a decent career. A lot depends on whether he can make the weight properly - by all accounts he has been training his arse off and Ingle even said that he didn’t think the weight would be an issue for him. He looks in superb condition on his social media posts over a month out. Kell was known for cutting corners previously. I think he’s going to give this a real go. He’s a huge welter and I don’t think he would have been as effective at 154. I don’t personally think the talent gap is that high between the two and let’s not forgot that Crawford is 33 himself and to be he’s not got the best resume at 147. Brook will be bigger than him in there and has excellent fundamentals.

Maybe I’ve got blind faith in Kell, but I know how talented he is. This won’t be another Amit Khan-Crawford job. Kell is a beast at 147 when right and I’m thinking he might have one more night in him.

from what I seen Dom seems to imply Kell wants to dictate the training and Dome has said he doesn’t work like that , he’s the trainer and he sets out the camps like it or lump it , I think Kell will probably have a lot of yes men in his camp and I don’t think that will do him any good !

he tried that and came back to Ingle , so who knows why he thinks it’s a good idea to do thst again , I do no brook wanted the camp abroad but ingle said he couldn’t move from Sheffield as his other fighters needed him .

maybe Kell needs the warm weather to make weight ? Saying that how warm is it over there in October ?
