Usually I’d agree but his corner seemed far too chilled and might have convinced Ritson he was just doing enough. He doesn’t seem the brightest.

@TBC-ASAP Smith needs to go at the BBBOC or the Board has to be disbanded as not fit for purpose if there is no governance in place to remove this dosser.

It should be changed to a no contest. The picture clearly shows he isn't watching the fight which he is being paid to do.

The response from the bbboc might change if they have any sense and they look at the clear evidence.

Terry o Connor should resign. I wouldn't be able to explain being on my phone when I'm supposed to be judging a contest, I would like to hear the excuse from Terry but can't see it being plausible.

Ritson has got away with 1 tonight but he was going off what his corner was telling him. He isn't going to go for a stoppage if he is being told he is winning the fight.

 

Agree. I must say I find that embarrassing. He is looked at as the world class Scottish boxer of his generation, were in reality he couldnt tie Scott Harrison's gloves.

 

Agree and Ricky Burns may not have been an elite fighter but he won and defended his titles in the ring.

The Real McCoy was a great fighter.

I agree, this is the thing, we've had O'Connor and others for YEARS and they still get work, never get sacked, never get disciplined.

The BBBofC are not fit for purpose and haven't been for years and years.


Robert Smith has said (Hearn retweeted Benson) that there will be an investigation, but the only reason that has been said is because the WBC and other professionals have gone crazy over the photo of OConnor on his phone.

If that photo was not seen, the BBBofC would have ignored this and moved on, it's a terrible look for them, and I honestly believe they will "retire" O'Connor with a nice watch, little trophy or medal and thank him for his services...

He should have just been sacked in disgrace this morning, not even a chat, just ring him and say "you're finished, thanks for the years of controversy" and put the phone down on him.

 

Ye I agree. As Jurgan has already stared, o Conner has a lot of form for past cards that are really bad. I'm speaking in general tho.

He genuinely makes me want to knock boxing on the head at times

 

I watched the fight this morning not knowing the result and about any of the controversy.

I struggled to give Ritson more than 3 rounds and even that was not easy! He was slow, threw too many single jabs, got caught multiple times in each round coming forward due to his poor footwork and was generally out of his depth. Lewis is so orthodox and predictable it's unbelievable people are talking about him fighting Taylor or Prograis.

Not only that but he didn't even try to outwork Vasquez. If your fighting someone with superior movement and skill set you have to be the more active fighter and throw more to have a chance of landing more.

There was something very odd happening in Ritson's corner as well.

Shocking scorecards. To me this is a total robbery and quite different to Smith vs Ryder. That was a fairly close fight the wrong man won but it was close enough to be a bad or dubious decision not an out and out robbery. Last night was in a different category. Ritson was thoroughly beaten from start to finish, was never close, was never debatable.

 

Gotta feel for Vasquez, beat both Ohara and Ritson yet ends up handed 2 losses by British judges instead. We’re an embarrassment with our officiating/judging and have been for some time now. I’m surprised any foreign fighter would want to come here, especially one who doesn’t really have that pop in their shots to take it out of the judges hands.
