Because he won a close decision on my card albeit clear against a blown up 126 pounder who he was way bigger than and as talented and physically gifted as he is his size advantage was everything and without it he would've lost. How do you think he would fare in his third division against a Crawford or Spence if he was feeling the weight of a blown up 126 pounder's punches? You think he'd be more or less reluctant to let his hands go when the punches of much bigger and heavier men are crashing into his face? Loma is a three-weight world champion and even down at 126 and 130 he was often giving away significant amounts of weight and reach, let alone up at 135.
Canelo Inouye Crawford Spence SSR Beterbiev Estrada Pacquiao Taylor Lopez I just want to note my own idiosyncrasies, that I heavily penalize being a HW for P4P consideration and try to give at least some consideration to activity and taking big fights. Spence will pass Crawford if he beats Garcia, I don't see what Crawford can do to a past-it Brook that would matter. He needs to step up and fight the PBC guys, the achievements at 140 are fading. I think Pacquiao will fall off the list if and when he loses his belt (unless he does some other impressive thing), but you can't ignore a former flyweight with the WBA welterweight belt when talking P4P. Taylor and Lopez are honorable mention for me, I tend to think of top 5 rather than top 10.
I can't confidently make a list. I can say that Inoue is #1 p4p, as he is the only p4p guy who is a multi-weight division champion and has recent wins over top people in his division where the only "controversy" is "In that fight he won by clear decision, should he have won it earlier by knockout?" But going by all the weird upsets, the Aussie might KO him in round one and Canelo will be #1 by default (I'm not putting Crawford at #1 for Old Man Brook, Glass-Body Khan, Jeff "Highway Bandit" Horn and Egidijus "Who?" Kavaliauskas).
#1. Canelo #2. Inoue #3. Usyk #4. Spence #5. Crawford #6. Lopez #7. Gallo #8. Josh Taylor #9. Rungvisai #10. Lomachenko
Almost identical to @Serge P4P list, big fan of KO victories so I have Inoue #1 Inoue Canelo Usyk Crawford Loma GGG Estrada Taylor Spence Beterbiev
1 Oleksandr Usyk 2 Saul Alvarez 3 Naya Inoue 4 Artur Beterbiev 5 Terence Crawford 6 Teofimo Lopez 7 Vasyl Lomachenko 8 Tyson Fury 9 Mairis Breidis 10 Josh Taylor
Canelo Crawford Lopez Loma Inoue Spence Usyk Charlo Pacquiao Taylor Ranking Loma above Lopez after last night is a bit like ranking Garcia above Spence after he lost to him. Doesn’t sit right with me.
I think it’s fair to say he’s probably the hardest fighter to beat right now in and around his weight division.
Tyson Fury is #1 He stands alone, clear and dry. Totally untouchable. Dominant. It's not even a question. You dossers will only put him #1 when he's dominated the whole of his division and is about to retire lol. Crawford won't have a career-defining fight at this rate. Errol Spence is not even in question for him.
He beat Wilder. Wilder wasn't in anybody's top 25 P4P, haha. Wladimir was a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Other top supporting wins include Otto Wallin and Tom Schwarz.
This is how it works, and why Loma is still up there. Some people treat P4P like a belt, and if they lose they then drop them. Even worse, they replace them with whomever beat them, without context. For Lopez to overtake Loma he has to find his optimum fighting weight, and then operate 2 weight divisions above it. It’s why fighters like Crawford, Loma, Inoue, and Canelo, are viewed differently.
