That might’ve been as good as Loma could’ve ever done against Lopez.

The fight was definately winnable for Loma. For the record I picked Loma (incorrectly of course) and was rooting for him. He waited too long to put his foot on the gas but you have to credit Teo for fighting a beautiful fight. He was quick, disciplined and really used his size to his advantage. Hats off to Lopez.

I think Loma could beat him in a rematch but he could also get KO’d because he would have to take big chances early when Teo has max power. When Loma turned it up, he landed some sharp shots and made things interesting. The size advantage was really apparent in this fight.

Loma is a true 126-130 pounder and he’s giving up too much size at 135. I hope he drops down to 130 and unifies, fights guys his own size. Teo could easily make 140 and probably do really well against top guys. Loma had a good run at LW but it’s too dangerous fighting big LW’s like Lopez. He’s built like a jockey, narrow shoulders, short arms and small frame. They have weight classes for a reason.

Lastly, Teo/Mikey Garcia at 140 would be a great fight if Mikey can still make 140.

No. Lopez is simply the better fighter.

He could, but I think Lopez establishes in the 12th that if a fight breaks out, he’s more up for it. So the “step on the gas” logic doesn’t really work for me. I think Loma has sublime skills and has the ability to do anything inside a boxing ring, but Lopez may not hive him so much respect in the second fight...who knows how that might play out? I think Lopez will always hive Loma problems, but Loma could certainly be better and earn a decision, but that could be said about a lot of fighters in a lot of fights.

That’s just not accurate...respectfully. When specifically are you suggesting Lopez looked more hurt than Loma did in the 12th?

Only if he picked it up from where he left off.

People are gonna use this to shame Loma, but he honestly had no business at 135. The fact he went up there and was 4-2 with titles wins was good enough.

Back to 130 where he should dominate, again.

Loma won't go back there again. Loma can fight at 135, but I don't think that Lopez will be interested in fighting Loma again. Lopez will move up in weight soon as he is struggling to make 135 now. Just wait and see.

    Loma will want the rematch

If he doesn’t get it, he will fight on and keep winning

    All greats lose

Surely Loma will want it but Lopez won't since he knows that Loma will be 100% ready to fight him in the rematch. Loma lost the fight because of his ring rust.

He lost because he didn’t kick start soon enough

He should have pressed after 3-4 rounds instead of 6-7 rounds

Not in my opinion. If he did it would cement him as a genuine ATG. Lopez is too big and too good. In reality he's a 140 lber, and Loma has struggled with lightweights. If it was one or the other then I'd back Loma but both combined it's going to require a lot of risk taking. He showed he had the talent to do that and make it work but then the 12th round happened. In a rematch all you're going to get is a more assured Lopez, therefore a better one.

As for people saying 'if only he pressed earlier'. I'm sure that occurred to him. But the power and accuracy kept him in check until he had no choice but to get going. It wasn't like he felt like giving half the fight away.

Loma just want to hokus pukos his way to victory.

But when he can't use magic. He just wont put his health on the line. This is real. Boxing is the hurt business. He had a real one in front him in Teofimo. A fighter that could hurt him bad.

I mean taking big shots to win a fight is not his cup of tea. I believe he has to do that against Lopez and he will more than likely be stopped or hurt badly.

If Lopez gives him a rematch in next 6 months anything can happen however Loma has to make things happen and let his hands go FFS.

I can’t sit through another 5 rounds of inactivity from Loma

Yes. I picked him to stop Lopez late but the kid got it done. Personally scored it 6-6 (2, 7-11 for Loma) but would not argue too much if it was 115-113. I'm not sure why Papa Chenko preached patience for so long, he gave away 5 of the 1st 6 rounds.

Will they rematch? I don't think so. Loma will push for it, but I don't think Teo will unless the money is big.

Lopez initiated more than a few clinches when Lomachenko was on the attack and having success. Shows me he was hurt. If a much smaller guy not known for his power is swarming you and he's not hurting you, you cover up and counter or punch with the guy.
