Golota is up on the cards when he gets DQ'd for biting Cooney's nuts like a rabid dog. Golota's corner bursts into tears.

Hard fight to choose a winner really. You have two men who were both dangerous offensively and had lots of punching power but neither stood up very well in the heat of adversity. They both had pretty good left jabs and underrated right hands. Cooney’s signature punch was the left to the body - often followed by a left to the head. Both were relatively tall with Golata being 6’4” and Cooney being 6’6”. I surmise that Andrew was the stronger and slightly tougher of the two. I think it’s really going to depend on who gets the better of the other first.

    Cooney would blow Golota away.

Golota had a peak???? Golota was pretty good really, but I think Cooney too fast and such a fast starter, Golota kind of slow really if I remember right. Cooney would kill him to the body with some hooks then KO him 1 or 2 rds

Hard call when you have 2 fighters with such flaws as these.

Skill wise he was never the same when he took a 2 year hiatus after the Tyson fight. An 81 version version of Cooney would destroy a slower heavier 04 Golota pretty easily. However a 96 Golota might give Cooney problems.

The Golota that faced Bowe would have been a lot better imo. That version perhaps beats Cooney.
Then again, we know Golota s fragile state at times, he could very well end up a 1 round ko victim.

Golota had a real tendancy to be caught cold. Cooney has the power and speed to capitalise on that, and he was skilled and accurate too. Cooney in less than three.

Physically golota was obviously younger during 1996-2000...however his psychology was like liquid dynamite...he could go off unexpectadly.....the 2004 vintage had to a greater extent dealt for the time being with his for no reason quitting tendencies....in my eyes he beat byrd amd ruiz over 24 championship rounds....that guy could outlast cooney.

Cooney after 1982 wasnt really able to fight more than a couple of rounds....however the title run cooney could do rounds and he could bomb away early...

Cooney knocks out golota in 2

He did beat Byrd and Ruiz but Cooney like Brewster who destroyed Golota was a fast starting power puncher which always gave Golota trouble even in his prime. Golota when he came back did not have the same jab to keep a guy like Cooney off of him.

Cooney. Golota would mentally break from a left hook by Cooney.
