Doubtful Loma landed more. But Loma landed the harder and cleaner shots, and did more damage. That matters, at least on my card, and that's how I got the draw and can see a Loma win. Again, as said previously, IF Lopez were landing like Compubox said then Loma would have been carried out of the ring. Loma blocked the vast majority of the shots. The Compubox counter seemed about as bad as the 119-109 judge. The result was not a robbery. Lopez is great. But Lopez got hurt and was hit with the cleaner shots. Loma was never hurt or particularly tired at any time in the fight, unlike Lopez.
Sometimes I wonder if you, delusionals, believe the BS that you write. Do you actually believe it? now that nobody is reading, you can tell me. Do you really believe this BS?
Of course I believe what I write. I've followed the sport for 40 years. I'm not new to all this. People score boxing in different ways. I'm a "front foot, clean punches, who gets hurt" kind of scorer. Always have been. I'm not a Loma stan. Just check my posting history. I respect him but don't fawn over him. Never have. I came away from the fight with less respect for Loma and more for Lopez. I'm just saying what I saw.
40 years and you still dont have a clue about how to score a fight. That's sad man. Are you blind, maybe?
thats just it, he was hurt. not in the way that you use to elevate loma, but in the way that kept loma dancing across the street.
Someone do a poll....I am betting around %90 will give it to Lopez....These people pulling out these people that agree with them are in minority....Lopez won the Fight and it was refreshing to see a decision made in Boxing that was correct and without controversy God knows Boxing needed a decision like that it may help to restore some credibility in our Great Sport.....Could someone please put up a simple Poll who Won Loma or Lopez it will may help silence the delusional minority.!!!
Being wary is not being hurt. Lopez was "hurt hurt", as well as tired. He also seemed desperate at times with that low blow or whatever it was and what I felt were headbutts initiated by him. That's not successful boxing on my card. I have no problem with Lopez winning the fight. Again, just relating what I saw and telling people what criteria I focus on when scoring fights. There was no "robbery" in the bout, and Lopez is a GREAT fighter.
trust me, if loma hadnt felt some hurt in the first couple rds, he would have tightened the screws way before he was in need of a ko to win.
He only got hit cleaner in 4 maybe 5 rounds. What about the other 7-8 rounds? You scored them all even? A fight is scored by round. It doesn't matter if you landed the harder shots in the fight. If that was the case Wilder would have beat Fury in their first fight and Kovalev would have beat Ward in their first fight.
I think Loma was weary of Lopez' power, and he may have felt it though the gloves. Some commentator/fighter said Loma was waiting for Lopez to tire or make a mistake (rather than feared Lopez' power). Not sure what the case was. Whatever the case, landing shots on gloves isn't as impressive as landing damaging blows on the body and head. Loma hurt Lopez and I thought was going to drop him in either the 8th or the 11th. For sure I gave Lopez the "Loma in a shell" rounds early (although I had Round 2 close), but if you had a round split at 1:30 of "guy in turtle shell with punches land on gloves" and 1:30 of "other guy landing clean blows" then I'm scoring the round for the second guy every time. That's kind of my point. If this was just "most Compubox lands win" then it'd be the amateurs. But damage done and opponent affected by damage matters, at least on my card.
True, fights are scored round by round. I had it a draw, as said many times. Ward and I differed on two rounds (he gave Loma the 2nd and 7th; I gave Loma the 6th and 12th; we each gave Loma 8-11). If I keep my rounds and add Ward's rounds, that's 8-4 Loma. It was a close fight, Lopez won, I have no issue with it. Lopez is an amazing fighter. On to the next fight.
