I think you need to look at some P4P lists from the last 15 years. He's all over them, normally above Duran and deservedly so. It's bloody close though, I'll give him that.
To commercial them lists for me, written by benders mate. Start following me an I’ll put ya right young’n

Even on **** lists, made by people who can't even tell you why Ezzard Charles was great, he's ranked highly. Charles is very much in the conversation for top four all time. And he's routinely ranked both above and below Duran, because it's close. And it means that both are in that conversation.
George, that’s other posters on here ffs. Langford and all the old fighters with no footage should not be in the discussion, that’s just plain guess work, it’s just weird. It’s like saying George’s chippy in Blackpool does the best fish and chips when you’ve never been and no one else has either but they’ve heard it’s really good
Mine would be ..... Armstrong, Robinson, Dempsey, Louis, Ali Yeah, all Americans. 3 of them are heavyweights. Just the way it is.
I linked them because respectable sources are easiest to find on here. Searching for top 10 P4P lists straight from Google leads to a bunch of shithousery which wasn't worry discussing. Things like Jack Johnson and Sonny Liston top 10. Mental.
Surely it's impossible to involve their cultural significance and not have either Jack Johnson or Muhammad Ali.
I agree. No Mas really preclude Duran from these discussion for me. Charles resume probably trumps Duran's even if that would have been a normal loss, though.
Nope, Greb, Robinson, Pep, Armstrong, Langford, Gans, Benny Leonard, all interchangeable IMO, if your MT Rushmore is made up of any 4 of these gentlemen, you’ll hear no arguments from me
#1 Muhammad Ali He really was The Greatest #2 Joe Louis #3 Sugar Ray Robinson Those 3 stand way above the rest for me
