Anyone else notices Lopez' kryptonite? In the last 4-5 rounds, he was backing up and did not know what to do at all and lost most of those rounds (he won rd 12 based on higher activity). He does not do good when backing up. Not only against Loma but also against the Japanese guy. If he moves to 140 or maybe even in a rematch with Loma this can be exploited big time.

He can fight going backwards but towards the end of the fight he was tired and he had tired legs

He wasn't able to use his footwork defensively, No lateral movement, sitting static on the ropes relied on a weak shoulder roll which Loma easily got around.

Even if he couldn't fight backwards good luck trying to push him backwards anyway. The advantage of being a strong, big, young and super sexy fighter.

I guarantee if you stuck a bigger man in with him he'd be defensively sound & capable fighting backwards/laterally. Just not late fight when his energy is gone.

If you could find another Lopez to fight himself it would be FOTY.

He struggled once Loma switched how he threw his jab and was able to get his offense going. But you could say Loma also wasn't able to out box Lopez on the back foot as he only had success once he started pressing forward.

Whatever the truth is, Lopez will need to find an answer for Loma's pressure in a rematch. He did seem to have success in the last round once he started throwing counters down the middle against a Loma who now wasn't really using angles and just going right at him. But on the inside he's definitely vulnerable as Loma pinned his left arm to his body up close and then came over the top with overhand rights.

And then there is his counterpunching ability. Dude is sharp, smart and can bang. As he showed in the 12th round. Lopez could move backward in straight lines all night and he would still be dangerous.

I’m general pushing a puncher back is a decent strategy as yes many of them don’t know how to box going backwards. The only thing is when they are prepared for you to come forward it become a phone booth style type of fight. The 12th round adjustments make me think that is the type of fight it would become if Loma decides to pressure again.

I just hope Lopez doesn't throw out his shoulder from patting himself on the back before fighting Loma in a rematch.

thats not how loma can beat teo. the kids too quick, agressive and too powerful. trading inside and he throws 3 to your 2, and stronger...you better make sure every one of yours counts.
just to throw salt on the wound, im gonna suggest he study mikey on how to handle a strong bull like that. watch his fights with salido, lipinets, zlaticanin, and a host of others to see how you walk them into your shots. the most efficient way to handle every situation against every specific style, has already been figured out. thats why decent athletes with old school training can compete with these special effects wizards, and if theyre good athletes, ko them.
to expand on that point, mikey prepared for that specific style, that i described, when he said he saw something in spence and then stepped in the ring. because thats exactly who spence was, up to that fight. he went in to fight hagler, and got ray instead. thats why on the rbr i congratulated james on having outsmarted the garcia camp.
