You're the one who's clueless about boxing, not me.

As if Ali didn’t go the distance with lesser fighters, bad argument

You and your ilk on here seem to think your personal racist beliefs cross over into boxing but they don't. It's all in your head. That is the only place where it is "real".

Embarrassing myself? Your criticizing povetkin just for going the distance, did Ali never go the distance with lesser opponents? Again, terrible argument

Ahem. Ali couldn't destroy this guy:

And a while later Ali couldn't get rid of Ernie Terrell despite throwing the kitchen sink at him.

Hammer and Rudenko are tough as nails. I don't see any reason why they would not go the distance with Ali.

Frankly I agree. P4P there's a lot of guys that can slot in front of Ali.

What logical reasons, so far it’s just been another bias thread towards Ali

To be honest I'm surprised anyone would vote for Povetkin. I am trying to see the other side and I think it depends a little bit on how you look at it. I kind of get where some of the posters are coming from and wanting to compare the sizes from then and now. I think people are thinking of pulling 1960s Ali and just dropping him into this era as is. In my personal opinion Ali would beat Povetkin H2H, but I also think you also have to give him the benefit of being in today's era and he just demolishes him.

1, since it's impossible to make fighters from different eras fight H2H matchups are almost impossible to predict and 2 you can really only compare fighters based on what they accomplished.

    H2H comparison
Ali was ahead of his time both in technique and physicality. He was a master of strategy from using his jab, head movement, upper movement, and ahead in defense. Even in today's era not even Fury, AJJ, Wilder, and much less Povetkin can move like him. Povetkin is not great at cutting off the ring and I don't think he has great head movement. Sure he's decent, but he couldn't reach Klitschko who I think fights a bit more basic skills than Ali, but just ram rodded his jab in Pov's face. I think Ali would use superior jab, movement and footwork to keep out of harms way with Povetkin.

    Era comparison
Okay so let's say Ali's era was weaker, which I don't completely agree because heavy weights have always been kind of lethargic beasts in any era, you gotta give Ali the benefits of this era. Ali dominated his era with a record of a record of 22-3 (14 KO) in world title fights. He even beat more champions in an era with less belts. He has a record of 14-5 (9 KO) against World Champions. Povekin is 0-2 in world championship bouts and 5-2-0 (3KO's) against world champions. Pov is just no where near Ali's level. If Ali was born in this era I think he'd also then benefit from this era's fitness, nutrition, and strategies and dominate guys like Pov no problem.

Did you just say Povetkin is slightly worse than Joe Louis?

Povetkin is far more skilled and fundamentally sound than Shavers was.
