The difference between Tyson and Jones is far more than the difference between Lopez and Lomachenko right now, that's the point.
Lopez may indeed have the potential to fill out to 154 or whatever but at the moment he's just a big 135 pounder. Lomachenko has been fighting at 125 to 135 pounds range for the last 13 years !

I’m neither a Lopez or Lomachenko fan but there are some weird inaccuracies in this thread about weight-cutting and rehydration.

No-one knows for sure the fight night weights of Lopez and Loma, but the weights quoted so far seem way to low. Loma was probably about 140 while Lopez would’ve been 150+. At least, that’s the premise for those saying Lopez was too big, and personally I think it seems accurate.

Secondly, people are claiming Loma was bigger than the likes of Russell, Sosa or Walters? I have no idea what the basis of this claim is. Loma never rehydrated significantly at 126 or 130 and those guys are all 126 or 130lbers. Therefore, there’s no realistic suggestion that Loma had a noteworthy weight advantage in the ring.

Maybe you should think about the fact that a 10 pound difference after rehydrating shouldn't bother the most skilled fighter on the planet

How so? 150 to 135 isn’t even a particularly big cut and Lopez is known to be a big lightweight

P4P is make believe nonsense. The only sports where it matters are olympic weightlifting and powerlifting. I wish boxing ditched this P4P bollocks.

These are the double standards I hate. GRJ is 5’4 with a smaller frame than Loma, the size difference was bigger than between Loma and Lopez:

    Same again for Sosa:

If people are gonna discredit Lopez for having a slight size advantage they’re also discrediting some of Lomas best wins.

Do you have any reason at all to believe they come in any lighter than Loma? Russell is a career 126er and Loma was never much of a weight cutter at 126 so they must have been a similar weight. I am not aware of any narrative around Russell refusing to cut weight or how he could fight at a lower division if he wanted, which you would think would be out there if he is undersized at 126 as you are suggesting.

Loma was even less of a weight cutter at 130 so in all likelihood Sosa was the heavier man.

Lopez has a hard cut to 135, Loma had no issue making 126. Ergo, there is 10lbs + between them.

Loma hardly even cut 10lbs when he was at 126, so there is no chance he was over 10lb heavier than any opponent. Your premise is plainly false.

Too much guess work going on. Lopez is bigger than Loma. Loma is bigger than Russel and Rigo. . There's really nothing more to it than that.

12 years ago, as a 20 year old kid, GRJ literally collapsed trying unsuccessfully to make 119lbs, and has been a career 126er since. You’re gonna have a hard time convincing me he’s actually chronically undersized at 126 and could/should be fighting lower.

Saying Loma is bigger than Russell is guess work

What we know - Russell and Loma were 126ers in their late 20s and not known to have any difficulty making that weight

Lopez is a 135er who has admitted some difficulty making weight

= Lopez is certainly bigger than Loma but there’s nothing to say Loma is any bigger than Russell

Could Russell move up to 135 , stop Linares and swarm Campbell till he's almost out on his feet?

I’m not sure how this question assists with establishing fight night weight

Linares was a 126er as well and you could say he looked noticeably bigger than Loma, just to highlight how small Loma really is
