There's not much in it. Smith has shown that he's prepared to travel more than 40 minutes from his house for a world title fight.
Smiths best win was against a **** groves, looked terrible in his other fights in the tournament, his opponents since have been a joke. smiths a nobody in boxing now
Not much in it. He's been the underdog in 3 title fights, by a wide margin in 2 of them. He's been the away fighter in 2 of them title fights and was also the underdog iirc in his first world title defence. Your hatred is next level.
In the last 6 years his title fights have all been in Leeds except 2 which were 40 minutes from his house. In the last 16 months he has boxed once (in Leeds) beating the world no.199.
I remember after the groves fight hearn was talking about bivol at super middle or light heavy for smith, after the Ryder fight that talk went very quiet
From my understanding the bi issue was Smith winning the WBSS he took $6m during the competition. He then had a kid and took some time out. He was ready to go into some of the biggest fights at super middle but wanted over a million quid so too did his opponents. There was rumours of him vs degale but both wanted millions and it only would have worked on PPV which neither had a history of selling. He was in a similar position to Usyk but Usyk had Bellew and now Chisora to work with who the general public knew and had both sold PPVs. apparently smith got over a million to fight on the AJ card as a favour. I get both then Matchroom side in the they would have made losses on smith earning that money as his pay was bigger than his profile. yet smith only wanted to get out of bed for big fights and big money. It’s a shame there wasn’t an aging Froch they could have enticed out of retirement after the WBSS to help build him. Smith also doesn’t have the personality to be a crossover star so not like there’s much in him in the US for Hearn either. as an advisor they should tell him to come up with a selling point but he dueznt have the personality
I agree mate. He’s a solid fighter but no more in my opinion. Good power, good body shots but he wouldn’t have achieved half of this if he was 5’ 11”/6 foot. I went off him after the Ryder robbery but I’d have liked to see him have a meaningful fight. As someone mentioned above, he’s wasting some of his best years.
Bent nose what has Warrington done to you mate ? Maybe sharing it might do you some good ? Whatever it is seems to have had some done some lasting damage ha !
Hearn must have the patience of a saint dealing with Smith & Gallagher. Callum seems to have zero ambition and is clearly not a real fighting Man. His career has been largely absolutely pathetic.
