Hearn really has treated Kell very badly....

Kell took the GGG fight to one up Khan taking the Canelo one.

And for a career high payday.

Not as a favour to Hearn.

Kind of true. Hearn had a PPV slot to fill and Eubank had pulled out of the GGG fight so needed somebody to step in and make the money.

To be fair to Eddie I can remember it quite well and it was Kell pushing for him to replace Eubank to fight GGG, not the other way round !

Fun to watch, world class welterweight but yet another example of a British fighter staying at the weight for way too long...12 years at 147.

This is just my opinion but from 18 years of age to 30, a professional boxer will naturally put on approx a stone (maybe more depending on weight division) of weight as they fill out. So I reckon between that time a fighter should have gone up at least 2 weight divisions (unless they’re already a heavyweight or a light heavy). For me, Brook should have ended up at middleweight by the time he was 30 not still boiling down to make 147

    It genuinely saddens me mate

Brook has been my favourite fighter or at least was early doors

You could see the talent so clearly
The accuracy on his punches was second to none
And although its hardly a bad career, he basically messed everything up after GGG

He was class, mate. I think he’s effectively wasted at least 4 years of his career trying to make a fight with Khan. What I mean is, he’s stuck around at the weight for way too long cos he knew that if he went up to 154 and above (fully committed) the Khan fight was gone. If he hadn’t of let Khan live in his head rent free I honestly think he could have gone on to win a world title at 154 in the last few years. Hearn could have put a nice vacant title on his lap in Sheffield without a doubt...but he’s faffed around waiting for Khan. Great fighter, poor career choices.

100 per cent agree with the Khan nonsense

    Wasted years chasing that fool

Although as much as im a fan, im not certain he could have won a belt at 154
Guy's reigning up there may be a tad to big for him to handle
    The elite ones anyway

But you know what, im gonna chuck a tenner on Kell to beat Crawford
Its unlikely but i more than most feel he is a live underdog

    I've wasted money on worse

Same, huge fan. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him. Granted he was in great shape vs Porter and it was comfortably his best win but I don’t think Porter’s style suited him. Brook isn’t actually that strong on the inside his strength is in understanding of range and great fundamentals. Porter drags everyone into that fight and he done brilliantly but it was a scrap. So we never really got to see a showcase fight for a Brook at top level.

I’ve got a feeling his is going to put in a great performance here and makes this close. I’m probably on my own on that one but I do believe it. He done an interview on the Costello and Bunce podcast at the turn of the year and I actually fully believed then that he was giving this one last go and by all (limited) accounts he has trained like a demon this year. He looks in great shape on all social media posts and this could be a massive cherry pick gone wrong for Crawford. Personally I don’t think Brook was right at 154, I agree that it’s against the conventions of boxing to stay at one weight for too long. But I really think he is just a solid 147 fighter and some of the struggles making weight earlier were due to poor commitment in the gym. The Carson Jones fight for example he boxed his head off for 6 rounds and he has nothing left for the final 6. Ingle even said in a recent post he doesn’t believe the weight will be an issue this time. Brook has said he has been training for 4 months.

The GGG fight really hurt him though, there is no getting away from it. To put on muscle mass like that to roll up to 160. Then lose in that manner (with the eye) obviously have a few months out where he done nothing and have to lose the weight to get back down two weight classes to a division where he was always tight anyway. After he’s done all that Spence is waiting for him! You couldn’t make it up. Tbh the stabbing really hurt him as well because he’s just beat Porter and there were tons of fighters at 147 for him then he had to make mandatories etc. Just a waste overall.

Look, people have to realise, sure, Kell fought GGG, Spence Jr, Porter.. but Hearn had Allen Babic, Dave Allen, Martin Murray, Shannon Courtenay.. the list of quality is endless
