Its funny. I watched Brewer vs Ottke 1 expecting a robbery as most people say. And I liked Brewer as a boxer. My final score? 6-5-1 for OTTKE. First 6 rounds were split 3 a piece. Rounds 7 and 8 I gave to Brewer but he was using up alot of energy to land a little. But they were close rounds. Round 9 I gave to Ottke based on two righhands landed towards the end of the round. Very close round otherwise. Round 10 and Brewer is tired and frustrated. Ottke actually backs him up at times. Ottkes round clearly. Round 11 I thought both didn't do anything to win it so I scored it a draw. Round 12. I'm thinking this is a close fight and this round is going to decide it. Ottke landing the shots and Brewer visibly tired and at times dropping his hands in annoyance. Clear round for Ottke. So no it wasn't a robbery at all.
that is fine if you do not agree. In a close fight, the champion should get the benefit of the doubt.I do not think Ottke did nearly enough to take the belt from the champion, so in that sense it was a robbery to me.Brewer more active, the aggressor and landing the harder punches as well.
Brewer was throwing and missing alot. Brewer really didn't land anything hard. As a matter of fact Ottke appeared to have gotten Brewers attention a couple of times. Funny because I just watched the Glen Johnson bout and funny thing......Johnson lost. By the end of the bout Johnson was getting nailed.
Ottke is probably one of the most underrated fighters ever when you compare his reputation to reality.
Toney wins this one landing better shots throughout probably ends up a wide spread decision for lights out he'd be able to stock Ottke and land the better shots with his skill and counter punching.
Ottke didn't do himself any favors by always crying over a slight foul either. Lets be honest. JC is too busy too fast for Ottke. He wouldn't have allowed Ottke to dictate the pace. Throw in the southpaw stance and thats a problem for Ottke. Toney would be troubled by Ottke. But a Toney in shape and focused is too talented for Ottke. Jones would have massacred him inside six. Eubank and Benn as well. All that being said the man did have talent but he wasn't an ELITE boxer.
I don’t think this fight’s even close. Ottke struggled with several lesser fighters than Toney. Ottke will probably survive and go the distance but if the judging is fair then it’s a wide UD for Toney.
Ghul continues his deluded pro German fantasy... boring. Ottke was limited and insanely protected. The guy racked up gift decisions at a pace I havent seen since. Prime for prime there should be sero doubt that Toney whips his ass. I have the distinct memory of ten fight veteran Mundine clearly beating Ottke (despite somehow being behind on the cards, another German robbery in the making) before getting caught by the feather fisted “champion” these guys were clubfighter level and an insult to champions everywhere.
I still think you are confusing the first and second fights.I watched both fights on YouTube recently. The Reid fight, I think I had something like 117-111 for Reid.Brewer-Ottke I 115-113 .
117--111 for Reid. This was one of the worst robberies I ever saw with a disgracefull referee also. Sveni as they call him got a few gifts in Germany. I just can' remember all the fights. Brewer-Ottke was close but clear for Charles in my opinion
