After the Benn v Eubank clash in 1990 Nunn said that neither man was in his class, was he right, if he was would that mean he was the best middleweight in the world at that point?
Nunn was the best. McCallum was 2nd then Jackson third. Nunn v. McCallum would have been interesting at that time
Both are beating him as 168lbers from 92 onwards. Nunn was simply not the same post Toney, and both Benn and Eubank improved as fighters when they put on the extra eight pounds.
I agree. Who do you have if Nunn and McCallum ever would have fought? Would have been a really good fight IMO.
I don`t think Benn benefited from the extra weight, he didn`t punch with the same snap at 168, however he did improve defensively when he hooked up wit Jimmy Tibbs.
I heard how Leonard avoided Nunn to fight Hearns in `89 I didn`t know Nunn was still in the frame for a fight with Leonard by 1990 and Nunn`s stock dipped a little after disappointing displays v Barkley and Starling.
