He's found a good niche in interviewing unsung heroes and football journeymen, just needs to work on the packaging a little and it's a decent product. I saw the Marcus Bent interview a while back and it was a good watch, will give the Michael Duberry one a go next.
Has he been "legally handcuffed" in terms of not being able to provide boxing coverage on a new channel?
I think that's a good guess. We can't know just what went on from the outside looking in, but it looks like he got manoeuvred out of his own project and that can't be easy to take. I think he may have made an expensive mistake in choosing who to work with. I wish him well in his new endeavour.
I'm not trying to belittle Helder's contribution to IFL which he obviously deserves credit for but his interviews were terrible. Always started off interviews with "I'm fortunate enough to be with..." and repeated the same buzzwords and phrases throughout. Very few of his interviews featured any real assiduous line of questioning and he always seemed scared to ask controversial questions. Kugan on the other hand has forged genuine friendships with the people he interviews and it allows him to undertake his interviews in the style of a chat with a mate and it comes across as far more fan-friendly. His interviews are clearly also more thought provoking and invasive which is what the fans want. I just wasn't aware that their split was acrimonious which Helder's tweet clearly suggests. I always thought Helder just sold his share and was pursuing other interests but clearly something happened there.
seems a nice enough bloke mate but his knowledge of the fight game cane across into his interviews aswell , he didn’t really know what he was talking about and it showed imo.
