Bit of a weird thread for a boxing forum. but do you like boxing just now? Don’t think I donor really care much right now, even though I constantly check this forum and my twitter is all boxing. boxing isn’t the uk, and I’m blaming. Matchroom, is not worth watching, but at the same time I love everything else around boxing, just not the one sided fights...
I love boxing but I have to be honest.. there is also a lot to hate. I think at least twice a year I swear I'm never watching boxing again LOL But I end up tuning back in, turning up to an amateur show, a pro show and I'm back in love with the sport again.
Think we,re almost being spoiled with it tbh. What more could any boxing fan want. Almost unlimited coverage. Up till the corona virus decent fights almost every week and big fights about once a month. Promotions unbelievable as well. What we,re getting is pretty much what we,ve always wanted. I really dont get how any boxing fan can complain too much tbh. Pretty much no matter what we get tho people will still find ways to set unrealistic standards. Only thing in boxing that i wish they sorted out was.... Matchroom bias. Biased scoring. But thats pretty much a worldwide problem. Cant see how they cant call it fairly its the least the fighters deserve. Too many belts. And corruption with them belts. Tbf tho the best cant fight the best constantly...otherwise there would be no more challengers out there with much interest left. Say joshua fought and battered fury four years ago. Then battered wilder the next fight. There would be no one left to challenge him. I kind of like the balance in boxing. The whole building a fighter up to the peak. It actually keeps boxing interesting.
Years ago we had a famous poster MIKE W in the lounge who did not like and did not watch boxing. He always posted Kung Fu nonsense. Quite the character.
My take is that 80% of fights fail to live up to expectation/billing, completely underwhelm. 10% actually meet expectations and leave you feeling satisfied as a fan. then there’s that ultra rare 10% of fights which exceed expectations, properly blow you away in such a dramatic way no other sport comes close to being able to. Those are the fights which keep me watching boxing. the promotional soap operas, how much another man is getting paid, all this he said she said story line which all used to be solely the preserve of the clucking female, doesn’t interest me one bit.
Stopped following British boxing many years ago due to the bad officiating always going unpunished. Can't bear listening to the drivel of the insufferable Dunce, Woodhall, Bellew, Nelson, Eddie Hearn, Cassius, etc either. Or Adam Smith ruining every fighter's ring entrance. Outside of the boxing itself I can't stand British boxing.
I'd say I'm in the same camp as you at the moment. I've really not been watching a lot of fights recently, my enthusiasm isn't what it once was for the sport currently.
I used to love boxing but if I'm honest,I'm finding it harder to watch these days due to the blatant corruption occurring within fights in Britain. The BBBofC is rotten to the core & Robert Smith,Terry O Connor & the rest of them need to go & a new organisation take its place.Years ago,the UK was renowned for being fair & now we're as bad as Germany & Italy combined.Embarassing!
Boxing is the sexy girl you're ****ing who treats you like crap which makes you want **** her even more.
