...his clinches are terrible. If he does that against a large heavyweight with a good inside uppercut, he'll get KO'd. Usyk looked good tonight. Credit to Chisora. His conditioning held up and he fought until the end. Usyk totally took over after the 5th and went to a level Chisora could not match. Usyk is ready for the best fighters. But he's still undersized and underpowered. He's going to have to work hard to beat the largest and best heavyweights.
A lot of the inside clinch/defence he was using tonight someone like Fury would just manhandle him. Push his head down. Put weight on him. Push him back. Hit his body which Chisora couldn't do. 270 pound 6'7. AJ sucks in the clinch and inside also anyway, but he still can't be moved like Chisora. Wlad was not happy that he couldn't move AJ in the clinch & push him over like he did with smaller men.
I agree. And Fury has some sneaky inside uppercuts. Usyk has a lot of work to do before he is ready for Fury. Tonight was a step, though. At least he didn't get beat up like he did vs Chazz.
As a Ukrainian, I'm happy Usyk won, but I believe Del Boy got robbed and it was a draw at the very least.
Oh I'm not saying Chazz won. I'm just saying Usyk got all swollen up. I'm a Usyk fan. I want him to do well. Tonight was a solid step forward.
I had four close rounds in the fight. If I give them all to Chisora, and add them to the other round I gave him, I get 5 rounds Chisora. Or the 115-113 Usyk score the two judges had. I can't come up with a better score than that for Chisora, but that's just my card. He fought hard and was in shape, but he was out of his class, IMO. That said, he made Usyk look pretty ordinary at times.
Everything was good, until that AJ comment. AJ explosiveness in the clinches is what making him so dangerous up close. That uppercut in there is a real beauty. And he can KO pretty much most people with it. As far as Klitschko, its irrelevant, because he was way too old, his power, speed, footwork, cardio, energy level, output, reflexes and everything you can think was way past it, and the fight was still close a****.
I give Usyk a good chance at beating most of the heavyweights. Some are 50/50 fights to me. Probably the only person I don’t see Usyk having a chance against is Fury
Realistically. If Usyk is losing 4 or even maybe 5 rounds to Chisora, how many would Joshua or Fury take off him. He's gonna go super aggressive and KO them clean? Not enough evidence that he has the attributes to do either I'm afraid.
Nah. He'll never be ready imo. But will be fun watching him try. Will be a big event and adds excitement to the sport.
