When two eras met in the ring and it was a big deal, I think a prime example is Lewis-Klitschko. Do you agree? What other such fights qualify?

Well, usually the fighter of the new era wins.

Lennox decided to keep the torch, put it out and set. It on his mantle as a trophy.

The bantam title from Jofre to Herrera. What a series of successors each time.
    Cokes-Napoles
    Benvenuti/Griffith- Monzon
Barrera/Morales-Pac, though both did good work after tbf.
Pedroza-McGuigan despite Bazza's short stay at the top.
    Conteh-Saad
Armstrong-Robinson, though much like Ali-Holmes and Louis-Marciano a sad spectacle.

Bowe - Holyfield I would have been a contender if Evander had only read the script.

Ditto, McCallum v Toney. Old slickster v young slickster. All Mike had to do was go out graciously on his sword but he messed that up and put up a superb showing. You can see the promoter - 'Mike. You had one job.'

De la Hoya v Chavez is a good shout although, there, I feel the man of the new era was already in situ. It was the old guy unsuccessfully trying to muscle his way back in rather than a passing of the torch.

Trinidad v Blocker was a definite end of an era. Felix really brought the curtain down on that Starling/Brown/McGirt/Honeyghan/Blocker etc era of welters. I do prefer my passing of the torch fights to be more competitive though.
