He can barely fight at 130. Took twelve rounds to dispose of Gamboa who was old, with a torn Achilles. LSC was landing through Tanks “defense” and Tank fouling him. Took a while until Tanks power bailed him out. 140? Jesus. No. Just no.
Let's see him against some legit LW's first before making any cast iron predictions. Probably too short for 140 but who knows, if he can carry his power up it's possible.
If he doesn’t improve his boxing skills he will have a hard enough time at 135. At 140 as he is now he gets killed. he just hasn’t improved at all in the last years. He is just looking to land his power shot and will eat punches to get it.
Realistically he shouldn't even fight higher than 130. 135 is a bridge too far. He's a thick/core guy but he's really small. Everyone doesn't have the ability or frame to go up in weight. He has some things to be able to do and be a top 6-7 guy, but he lacks the frame to dominate. Just like I think Prograis is phenomenal at 140 but I think may be lacking at 147 (his frame as well). And the top 135ers are really future 140ers. I also think though he may be 1,2,or 3 at 130, I think Berchelt beats him at 130. I say this as one of his few fans on here. I'm realistic regarding his ceiling.
Only Ergashev is any good out of that lot and he's unproven too Tank would eat them all for breakfast, Tank vs Taylor is just another Canelo vs Fielding, too many levels to make up for the size to count
130=154 135=160 140=168 The Tank and Canelo comparison is pretty apt, 135 = 160 are undeniably the more proven divisions
I think his power and quickness will let him fight at 140,, but does he have the overall skill to engage guys who have significant height and reach advantages and will enter the ring heavier than him? He'll have to prove it to me that he does.
And again, people are bad at guessing heights. Davis was just a bit shorter than Emo Cruz. You honestly believe Davis is the same height as Roman Gonzales? If Davis were 5´3, his body composition would be way different. Davis is the same height as Gamboa.
