As both would be cruiserweights today, I decided to match them there. Who wins? Both in their primes. I've got Rocky by mid-late stoppage.

I don't see what functional difference it makes, apart from annoying people who don't like that they wouldn't be heavyweights today.

But yeah, I tend to agree that Marciano wins between 7-9.

I think Patterson would stop Rocky, he was far more skilled and harder to hit and had good power.

Not durable enough for Rocky's power. The "better" fighter doesn't always win.

I see Patterson up on all three scorecards through 8-9 rounds but Marciano being able to crowd Floyd into the ropes/corner late in the fight after Floyd's wore down and Marciano by KO sometime after the 8th

Patterson was the better boxer but he had chin issues and I don't think he could absorb the kind of punishment Marciano could dish out over a fight. If Patterson doesn't bomb Marciano out early - a chance, I guess, but a slim one - then Rocky busts him up and stops him 8-10.

Actually think this doesn’t go long. Marciano in two or three. Come forward guy with a questionable chin going against the all time Ko leader? Eventually Marciano connects and he finishes

I agree Floyd was the more "skilled" boxer. As far as better footwork and speed. But Marciano had better skills that are hard to rate, such as heart and will to win, plus a big right hand. Although I believe Patterson's chin wasn't has weak as some people believe I dont think it could withstand a big right hand from Rocky. Marciano by KO in the 9th

That fascts! Especially certain types of fighters (I'm going to use Gatti for example) they are great pure boxers but love to brawl and put on the best show possible for the fans and lose because of it occasionally. It also works the opposite way (I'll use Micky Ward as a example since i have him on my mind) with fighters who win a lot of fights against better boxers by drawing them into there fight. I've watched Ward fights were he was LITERALLY losing EVERY round but ended up with a win.

I think Patterson has too much speed of hand/foot, skill and would match Marciano's stamina.

Yea, sure Marciano could KO Patterson but Patterson can KO Marciano too. And I'll pick the guy who's going to land first and more frequently.
