Floyd Mayweather:I'm a better boxer than Muhammad Ali

Always in need of the spotlight our dear Floyd.

 

Ok, well objectively speaking, they have almost as many professional fights, probably close to equal championship fights, you would have to acknowledge Floyd has fought more guys on the p4p list, and Floyd pretty much dominated all of them, and took far less punishment throughout his career (both fought till the age of 39)....
So yeah, the argument can most certainly be made.

Two completely different styles so its purely subjective, but can certainly see Floyd's point of view on this one

 

Ali would knock him out of the ring with a mere flick.

 

The smaller weight divisions are always more skillful....but everybody loves the heavyweights

 

Well I suppose after being out of the game for nearly 4 years Floyd would have took on his greatest rival with only 18 rounds of boxing under his belt.

 

Tbh, he's right. He's an attention seeking douche but he's right.

 

Mayweather didn't believe in taking on all comers, all the time. Ali mostly did.

Mayweather is right when he says "don't take punishment", "make as much money as you can" .... great practical advice, but that comes at a price in terms of rating as an all-time great. Almost certainly a price worth paying, it's far better to be healthy and wealthy, rather than broke, broken but great.

 

They aren't even vastly different styles. Both put their main focus on fighting at range with their speed and distancing, with a smothering clinch heavy inside game.

 

I'd wager it was Mayweather. My count for the guys Ali fought who were top 10 is 39, can't imagine Maywather topping that TBH.

 

Depends how you define a clinch. I consider pretty much every frame up of Floyds clinch work.

 

Nobody is a better boxer in human history in reality.

 

I have no problems with Floyd being ahead of Ali. Only one really disputed win and he settled that with a clear win in the rematch and while there are som guys above 135 that he didn't face, one should also keep in mind that he in size never became bigger than a typical fighter at 140.

On the other hand Ali beat three guys that most have in or around their top 10 at HW. Did Floyd beat anyone who would make top 20 at that particular weight? Probably Pac (all the question marks around that fight irks me, though) and maybe DLH, but then only because 154 is a relatively new and shallow division.
