If Anthony Joshua beats Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk will he finally get respect?

I wouldn't give him too much credit for beating Usyk because the size advantage is ridiculous and Usyk isn't a cruiser that carries up a big KO threat like Haye, for instance. So Usyk has it all to do there.

I also wouldn't give Fury too much credit for beating Usyk for exactly the same reasons.
Usyk is obviously a good scalp at HW for them but if we're being honest, he is much, much smaller, so it takes the shine off.
It would actually be more impressive if someone like Povetkin beat Usyk at HW, or other smaller stature HWs.

If AJ beat Fury fair and square (no cash cow scorecards at Wembley), then he would get more credit than most could stomach, if you missed the insane propaganda level attached to AJ all these years.

I personally think AJ does have the best chance of beating Fury outside of Wilder, who almost did. If AJ can land a bomb or two, he might just finish the fight. He has a lot of training and experience by now, so it's a possibility he gets through Fury's defences at some stage and turns the fight. You need to be a KO artist to beat Fury imo, because you're probably going to fall behind on the cards(without corruption). You need to be able to pull a bomb out the bag at some point, just like Wilder did in the first fight. The bad news for KO artists is that Wlad and Wilder both did land big RH's late in the fight and Fury still got through. But that doesn't mean he's invincible either.

Yes! I agree. The PS said as if AJ had no credit to get a respect.

There will be a sad day in the future when your unparalleled creative ability to bash Wilder will eventually cease to amuse me, but it is not this day.

So if he beats Usyk, in a fight he'd be a huge Odds on favourite for, let's remember Usyk is a smaller man, who is clearly not a big puncher at heavyweight.. should AJ get respect?

Well, some but how much does he deserve?

If AJ beats Fury, should he get respect? Absolutely, Fury is the number 1 in the division right now, AJ can't do much more really, so yes.

amateur achievements are great, but in the pros belts should never be the foundation of a boxer's achievements. not in this sport.

joshua 'arrived' after beating wlad, but since then he couldn't make a fight with wilder, while wilder and fury have fought twice.
redeeming himself against ortiz keeps him in the conversation of the 'top three', but he needs that fury fight especially.

i think it's too early to start throwing usyk's name in the mix.

I really don't understand why some people don't like him.

He arguably has a better record than anyone in heavyweight boxing right now.

Is wilder better than anyone Joshua has fought in the top 10? The only good win on Wilder's record is Ortiz.

Joshua has fought champion, after champion, and way more top 10 opponents than either Fury or Wilder.

Fury has the most impressive win - His domination of Wlad and perhaps of Wilder also, and Wilder has one impressive win, or 2, but they're the same fighter (Ortiz), the first fight was controversial, could have been stopped as a TKO for Ortiz.

But then again, Ortiz has fought no one of top 10 quality except Wilder anyway!

All in all, in terms of an all round record, Joshua's far surpases Wilders, and is probably better than Fury's.

Consistency matter, and Fury needs to prove he can show up on non-title fights. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets KO'd vs someone sh*t, because his performances against lesser fighters is often questionable.

wilder might not be pretty to watch, but nobody could beat him until fury came along.
i'm not interested in top 10 opponents. if you want to be in the mix of the top HW's then you need to fight the best, and joshua hasn't fought fury or wilder.
