I hope boxers realise that this is the money grab it is and give the division and the new belt a skip.
We seem to be in a slight minority here, but adding a division between CW and the super HWs is needed. I think the took too long to create the max 200# CW div. I don't know if the OP is joking (I think he is) but Bridgeweight is ridic. Just call it SCW. Lots of good fights could take place there.
It's good to be self-aware, the majority still wants less divisions. If we have to force-feed the majority a new division (thinking we know something they missed), it better have an excellent championship fight from the get go: Wilder vs Usyk For the new belt creating a new strong base for the belt line, an expensive fight for everybody, but the WBC need to invest in their own new belt and waive fees for this first fight, if they want to make history...the fans already know this division will be contested between Usyk and Wilder, so the fight needs to be made right away (assuming Wilder and Usyk are interested in this new division) The opposition will soften up if Wilder vs Usyk is announced as the opening fight for the belt. Then WBC will have a new generous nipple to milk
WBC is World Boxing Crap. I remember that this crappy boxing organization initially set up 12 round fight instead of 15 round fight. Now it's establishing a new division called "Bridger Division" WTF!
I honestly thought this was a joke when I read the title. I have no problem with the creation of another man-sized division but that name actually makes me feel genuinely nauseous. It looks disgusting, sounds disgusting and the thought of being announced as the Bridger Weight champion of the world just sounds absolutely ridiculous. What imbecile thought that up and even worse decided to give it the green light? I would hate to see their CCA because they must be totally devoid of any semblance of style to come up with a name as ugly and awful as that.
Im sure the WBC and WBA are in a contest to see who can come up with the most moronic bull**** to ruin boxing and for a while the WBA seemed to be cruising to victory but the WBC have really upped their game in the last year and have took a decisive lead
That makes Bridger Walker the first WBC Bridger champion then, right?! This content is protected Also not to be confused with a worldchampion Bridger (the old folks card game).
Usyk? Gassiev? Theres plenty of guys in the 230s at HW who could make this weight. I think the idea is fine. You cant really tell me that Usyk and Tyson Fury belong in the same division. I think they could do with amalgamating some of the smaller divisions to be more in line with the amateur weighst though.
I'd be fine with 175-190 cruiserweight, and 190-210 bridgerweight. But 224? With the normal dehydrate/rehydrate routines for making weight, that means some of these 224lbers are going to be fighting at very typical HW weights of 230-240. This will hurt the HW division which has already been fairly weak these days.
