You are the only one in this forum giving Marquez any credit.. Chavez vs Marquez would not be an easy victory for Chavez like everybody is thinking.. In my personal opinion Marquez won three out of four against Pacquiao or at least a 2 - 2 and knocked Manny out in their last fight. Some rank Pacquiao as one of the great ones but he just was never able to dominate Marquez. Marquez was one of the best counter puncher of all time and was not a soft hitter. Very good maybe brutal fight between these two.

You’re not wrong. Just seems an easy fight to call on paper. Hard to favor Marquez, even if it would be a great fight. It probably would be, too. Marquez is a genuine all time great.

I love both these fighters - Chavez is arguably the greatest Mexican fighter of all time and Marquez is a lock for a top 10 spot.

I just can't look past Chavez at either weight - he was the naturally bigger and stronger fighter and he's not at a disadvantage on the technical side either.

Very competitve fight but a clear win for Chavez.

Chavez would rough him up. He'd smother him. Easy win Chavez.

Except Marquez would be down about 20 times.

I just can't see Marquez engaging Chavez enough to win, if he did he'd get stopped

Yeah but anyone who ever tried to smother Marquez, ended up flat on there back mate see Juan Diaz.

It was boxers where Marquez had to lead he would struggle with, but fighters who come towards him he thrived against.

I agree JMM matched up best against pressure fighters, though the fact Diaz briefly got on top against him, bodes well for the much better JCC.

At Lightweight yes maybe at Super Featherweight ? It's a closer fight. JCC was a great fighter an ATG infact, but he wasn't unbeatable. He had close fights with LaPorte, Lockridge, at Super Featherweight. I don't think its unreasonable to think JMM runs Chavez close at Super Featherweight.

I don't think its unreasonable either, though I'd pick the iron chinned JCC.

I’m favoring Chavez but not by a huge margin. Marquez is underrated

Re-reading what I wrote back in 2020, I find I still agree with myself… which is nice.
