David Nyika, one of the biggest talents to come out of New Zealand in a long time makes his pro debut on the undercard. I guess he wasn't going to sit around for an Olympics that may or may not happen
Quite a few Tokyo bout ams are fighting pro to stay busy, maybe, finally, we end the bull**** argument about prod fighting in the Olympics by accepting guys like Marcial, Zhussupov and Co, who are literally fighting pro due to a lack of am competition right now... And fingers crossed Nyika does the same
Nyika is a 2-time Commonwealth champ. A big 6'4" HW prospect - quite fast and very athletic. A bright future ahead.
Campaigning at Cruiser according to Boxrec. And He's not 6'6 as stated on boxrec. Looks 6'4 ish, maybe 6'4 1/2
Yeah he looks a legit 6ft 4, slightly taller than Parker who is a rounded up 6ft4 Nyika is starting to develop his man strength, apparently his old man was a skinny guy until his mid 20's and filled out really well. Nyika thinks he will be a legit 110kg in the future but right now only walks around @ 90kgish which is small for someone competing @ 91kg. Couple of years ago he looked like he couldn't crack an egg but recently he has hurt basically everyone he fought. Think just about all of his losses over the last couple of years could have gone his way. He has been more than just competitive with the best.
His loss to Muslim whats-his-face was narrow. As was his SD loss to Levit, the number 2 rated world amateur. All his loses are to Russians and Kazakhs suspiciously
