That could be. On the other hand, he might have just been trying to uphold his reputation as a "hard, hard man". It's like a child at school who wants to look cool in front of the cool kid. He tried it on with some sort of Poundland shuffle and then got plonkered!

Whatever the case was, it was funny to see him try to brush it off.

Dave Allen had a fantastic chin.... look at the names he went in with on short notice whilst being unfit and just walked through numerous big shots.

That said, it catches up with you at some point and he took a lot of shots off David Price who has a nuclear right hand.

Hope the White Rhino enjoys his retirement.

Taking sustained beatings from big men like Yoka and Price obviously did a number on his punch resistance. Good on Usyk for for not following up.

A lot of Uskys’ skill can be attributed to sparring Dave Allen. He must’ve learnt so much in these sessions.

It sure was a good punch, AND it came from the wrong side! Southpaws are hard for most people to fight and some can never pick up the left hand. There is no reason that a strong, athletic, well balanced guy like Usyk wouldn't have power.

Usyk moved to his right, made Allen react and do what he wanted, which was move to his (Allen's) right into the left hand. Guys like Usyk are many moves ahead of most of their opponents. Excellent fighter.

Should be common knowledge by now that guys like Allen, sadly, usually leave the sport with a crippled chin and scrambled brains. Think this might be an indication that his chins declining significantly.

    .....

Usyk is all class. How can anyone not like this guy. Knew Allen was hurt and conducted himself accordingly. Massive respect to Usyk.

    ....

In all honesty, what is Allen thinking sparring like that.

The scary thing is he isn't even 30 yet. In all likelihood he'll be living out the next 40-50 years with a declining, CTE afflicted brain.

Good shot, right on the button. He wasn’t ready for it and his hands were down. Good on Usyk for letting him recover and not throwing anything when he was on wobbly legs.
