Actually the more I think of this fight the more competitive it gets. If Holyfield’s on his A game he grinds Bruno down within 6 rounds, but Holyfield’s habit of making easy fights difficult could cost him here like it almost did against cooper. I could very well see a stewart type fight but Bruno was bigger, more skilled, and hit harder than steward. I know it’s far fetched but Bruno has some potential to win here, but like I said, Bruno gets stopped by an A gamed Holyfield. Also no way did Holyfield duck Bruno
I agree with the underlined bold portion of your post. Holyfield should win however it could get dicey in there. And I don't think Holyfield gets the KO.
You have to be at the calibre to be ducked and for a duck to be taken serious. Frank Bruno was briefly a top contender when Holyfield wasn't even in the heavies and then briefly again when he had a portion of the world title. Other than that he was punching around in the top 20 pack.
Might have been an interesting fight for a while but I never saw Holyfield seem to duck anyone .. the man was fearless ..
Do me a favor, " avoided " Bruno, a true warrior ( used to often, with fighters that wasn't ) like Holyfield not wanting to engage the fighting statue that was Frank Bruno is inconceivable , and tbh I am staggered that an experienced poster like you would even contemplate the notion dear, oh dear....
Holyfield defended his titles 4 times from 91-92. Foreman-a rated contender in a highly lucrative fight. Cooper-a willing late sub after the #1 contender Tyson and next rated available Damiani were injured. Holmes-Holmes was a big name and had just upset RING top 5 Mercer. Bowe-#1 WBC contender. You will not find Frank Bruno in the RING top 10 for these years or a top rated leading contender or mandatory by any organization. After losing to Tyson, he fought just three times against scrubs in this period. Nobody was ducking Bruno. Bruno was avoiding competitive fights and rebuilding, until he got gifted a money title fight from Lewis on the "British rivalry" angle. He performed well in defeat but wouldn't be rated again until 95 when he defeated McCall. Bruno defended the WBC title against Tyson. Holyfield held no title at this time and was not offered a title shot from Bruno. There is no basis for either man ducking the other.
