I know Smith got a bit of a gift against Ryder but let's not forget the gifts Alvarez has had through his career, the blatant weight bullying and of course the Clen use. How different his career could be had he not had all that stacked in his favour. Smith has just got by against some so so fighters but he's also obliterated many, including Fielding in the first round. We've seen Alvarez unable to KO a drained and rusty Chavez jnr, it happens to all fighters, they have off nights or they're just not as good as their opposition on the night. I'm not writing off Smith just yet, he could spring a huge upset, even if he loses because if it's highly controversial then surely at some point there'll be an inquiry into what goes on with Alvarez fights.
Outright Canelo 2/9 Smith 3/1 Canelo Via TKO/KO 10/11 Canelo Via Decision 2/1 Smith Via TKO/KO 9/2 Smith Via Decision 12/1 I'm about to steam in on 10/11 Canelo Via TKO/KO..
He never had the interest in unifying lol. He has asked all the champions for fights, offered to take less than Billy Joe first time round to fight Canelo too. Went in Super 6 to prove he was best in division, unfortunately for him most people who said Groves would beat him now say it's because Groves shoulder, that they knew about beforehand. Before that Braemer pulled out just before he was due to fight Smith. Neither his fault. He has constantly wanted tests.
I was talking about what Callum has done after the WBSS and more specifically the past 18 months, when he was already a champion not Groves and his shoulder, Breamer etc. Every single interview I have seen of him or Joe G it's Canelo, Canelo, Canelo, their single mindedness and obsession with the Canelo fight above any possible unification fight which they have always been extremely vague on if they mention it at all (Canelo obviously holds no belt at SMW and is not a career SMW either) reeked of a desperation to sell the belt to the highest bidder. Of course there's nothing wrong with a fighter wanting a big money fight, but I think there is something wrong when that's ALL he wants and cares about. It is possible to make big money and create a lasting legacy at the same time. IMO Callum has shown no interest in this. He's got his dream fight now, he'll predictable lose, so all's well that ends well I suppose
It’s an ok fight and nothing more - Canelo won’t be knocked out and won’t lose on points, what had smith done to prove he can do what the rest couldn’t? I just don’t see it.
