How would a prime Tommy Morisson and Ray Mercer stand up against Fury, Wilder, or Joshua?

Sergeant Ray Mercer at his best beats Joshua and Wilder. I think Wilder is easy work for him but AJ is able to wins some rounds but ultimately gets caught by Ray. I just don't see him being able to avoid an exchange with Mercer where he doesn't get hurt. I would favor Fury's size and boxing ability over Mercer.

I like Tommy over Wilder but I don't see him beating Joshua or Fury. I never was that big on Morrison.

Now Mercer on the other hand was great. At his best he gave the two best heavyweights of his era all kinds of hell and as an amateur, from most reports he beat Felix Savon. Mercer was bo friggin joke.

 

Tommy would not stand up against any of them.

 

I think 10-15 years from now, people won't view Wilder, Fury, or Joshua as fondly as they are now.

Collectively they have beaten what 4 top ten ranked opponents under the age of 35? You tell me, not counting right now.

While Joshua has conducted himself well, Wilder and Fury have cherry picked way too often.

Boxing badly needs Fury vs. Joshua, and I think Fury is the problem this fight is not happening.

Morrison sure could have beaten them. Or lose to them, but if he lost he's probably be their 2nd best win, or arguably best win.

Fury beats any man born from their mother

I don't think people still quite comprehend how BIG Fury is next to these heavyweights. Fury looks big next to the modern superheavies. Nevermind old school "big" men.

 

Mercer would be a live dog. Punchers chance for the Duke.

 

Tommy the Duke Morrison will knock them all out because of his genes. Sharing a bloodline with the great John Wayne will spell disaster for these guys. As for Mercer he had an iron chin and was called Merciless for a reason.

 

Mercer arguably beat a prime Lewis and was at the very least neck-and-neck competitive with him. That alone means that he'd be a tough out for all three. In the case of Wilder, who struggled with Luis Ortiz, I don't see him beating Mercer. Same with AJ, who would have to fight Mercer the way he did in Ruiz II to have a chance, and that's just not his nature (he slipped a couple of times into brawling mode and Ruiz lit him up enough that he went back to jab-jab-jab). Fury, with his reach, agility, and ability to box from the outside on the backfoot, would give Mercer fits, but there's always the possibility of Mercer catching him with those lethal weapons he called fists.

Tommy Morrison loses to all three. He doesn't have the skill to hang with Fury, nor the chin to take Wilder's or AJ's shots.

What was their mentalities like?

Were they rock solid?

Anytime I see videos of Morrison I think he looks on edge a lot of the time.

 

Mercer gives anyone a tough night. Underrated HW, with a great beard and power. Wilder and AJ are 50/50 fights. I think Fury is just too big, too long and a bad style matchup for Mercer.

Tommy's chin gets obliterated by Wilder's right hand, he has no chance vs Fury and probably gets iced by AJ too.

 

Tommy was mentally a fragile mess. Roided out of his mind and a bat-**** crazy lifestyle. He didn't handle pressure and fame well at all.

 

Seems like someone Fury would get to pre-fight just with his physical size alone.

 

Ray mercer probably comes out on top with most of the 70’s golden era lot. He’s stopping big George all day long

 

Morrison would win more rounds against Fury than Wilder has. Not sure Morrison beats any of them but he would be competitive and come to fight. Morrison’s biggest problem wasn’t his Glass Jaw it was his lifestyle and lackadaisical training. Morrison could fight.

I'm not so sure, people rate Tommy Morrison higher now than they did 20 years ago. He never beat anyone decent under the age of 35
