Dawson vs Tarver was a long awaited matchup that everyone wants to see. This fight makes more sense then Dawson vs Diaconu. Diaconu isn't a bum, he's a good fighter with solid skills, although he does have some weakness that are pretty noticeable. Dawson only wanted to fight Diaconu in the U.S or Canada, but even if the fight was in the U.S Dawson still wanted a crack at Tarver. No one knows who the **** Diaconu is besides the people in Romania and Canada. Besides Diaconu will get a chance to fight Dawson if he can get passed Johnson.
Dawson is getting a pass on this one because he is fighting a tougher fight then Diaconu. Joe is taking an easier fight with a guy that he claimed was too shot for him to fight last year. big difference there. Championship fighters usually fight two or three times a year. Usually fights are lagged because of the politics of the sport, problems with their promoters, injuries, stuff like that. In Dawson's case, he needs a better promoter because Gary Shaw sucks.
More money in Tarver fight i doubt he really cares if he's stripped of the WBC light heavy belt he can always get it back, and get Tarvers as well. Diaconu licks.

Why can't Dawson have any time to improve? He's only 25, he'll surely get better. And what were you guys expecting of Dawson in the Johnson fight? It was a close fight, just like it should have been. Dawson wasn't overly impressive but he impressed me with his heart and willingness to trade even when hurt. Isn't that what a lot of you guys like in a fighter? There's a big difference in struggling against Glen Johnson, one of the best fighters in the division for a long time, and Chris Henry, who I believe wasn't even ranked in the top 10 when he fought Diaconu.
