This fight shows that the media can produce plenty of biased scores. They were pissed off at Canelo for getting a draw last year and making them rebook their flights and hotels in May.
Just 3 picked judged by the promoters. Their cards suck. I never seen the media and people in boxing say 79% that one guy won and 6% that the other guy won where there wasn't a robbery. Once again the media cards. All of them. 116 = GGG won 021 = Draw 009 = Canelo won [includes 2 Golden Boy promoters] 116/146 = 79% had GGG winning the fight. 021/146 = 15% had a draw. 009/146 = 06% had Canelo winning the fight.
You've made this claim quite a few times. The promoter does have a hand in picking the judges perhaps, but do you know that this was the case? Also, do you know that GGG didn't agree to those judges?
The picking of judges, gloves, ring, fight location etc...are negotiated on by both sides...the promoter pays and also is part of the negotiation....including the other fighters promoter, network PPV it is a huge business deal.
I don't think GGG and Sanchez expected Canelo to be that aggressive or that tough....they changed nothing to prepare for that IMO GGG fought his typical fight and IMO it was Canelos team that changed strategy...I also feel that GGG underestimated Mexican pride and their warrior culture they invoked what they got Canelo had to fight and go out on his shield it is cultural in Mexican boxing.....GGG I felt won this fight but it was hard to ignore Canelos aggression and the fact he is a very good fighter and has been a traditional middleweight for years....Canelo would be competitive in most eras....fight 3 will reveal where GGG really fights historically....I feel this era of middleweights is underrated...
This is perhaps one of the more troubling observations. Historically, we rely on the press to keep the judges, as honest as possible; to present a case in genuine situations of poor scoring and bring the weight of attention on a potential injustice. The output from the press, for GGG/Canelo (II), has been quite the opposite, for a bout in which the judges scorecards were really quite reflective of what actually happened.
I tihnk there must be at least 100 elites in MW boxing. If 3G is not an elite how can he be above them most of them. At best 3G is weak elite, or unresolved elite.
I'm surprised that so few in the media had Canelo winning. Seems to be different with fighters, though. RJJ, Haye, Ward, Foreman, Mikey Garcia, Roberto Garcia, Trout and Khan scored for Canelo. Even if you think Trout and Khan are biased because Canelo beat him, it's still the majority of fighters whose opinion I know. (B-Hop and DLH don't count for obvious reasons in this one). I've heard that Lewis had GGG and I know Malinaggi did, but no else that I can remember hearing from right now. This content is protected EDIT: Badou Jack had it a draw. Toney said it was close, sounded all in all that it could have gone either, that he didn't have a firm opinion on the matter. Mayweather sr had it for Canelo.
Why are you so hung up on stats? It's not about how many title defences someone has, it's about who they beat and when. Bernard Hopkins was a great fighter, and he makes everyone's top 10. Yet he doesn't have a great MW resume.
I see you make lots of changes. I did start a Toney vs Tiberi scorecard thread since you asked for it many times. I see you vastly changed your opinion on this one too! How about I ask for your old top 40, since you have no new one?
Hopkins doesn't make the top 10. Not sure he makes the top 20. Like you say, it's who you beat and when. Hopkins beat no one of much value at 160 pounds.
