Win some, lose some. Pacquiao was the greater fighter but head to head, JMM was better than Pacquiao.
At the elite level, these small advantages mean more and IMO JMM would have struggled at these weights. He couldnt hang with the big boys like Pac. Plus styles make fights- JMM style doesnt jump up weight classes like Pacs
He did have a crippling left hook to the body though, left hook to the side of the head and a stiff jab as well. He was also a physically strong fellow, like when he slammed Clottey, Pac around his nape, and shoulder-carried... Urkal I think? Those serious left hooks would find their target aplenty as JMM would not be as mobile as Pac was.
JMM wanted to fight Cotto at a drain weight. Too bad the fight never happened. Very interesting clash of styles. Cotto was open to 150. JMM wanted 147.
