I'd definetly read it if you were to write a book on sweet science, whether It's breaking down the fighting styles or the back story of a fight.
There is a book essentially finished that covers boxing history from Early man to 1822 with the creation of the first heavyweight title belt from mother****ing lionskin. In about 6 months or so, you gonna get it. A History of Violence Vol. 1: Heavyweight Boxing From single cell to title belt. Shouts out to @BitPlayerVesti @George Crowcroft @Senya13 and @GlaukosTheHammer for the help.
Awesome read I had it 7-5 Floyd At best you could argue Maidana deserved a draw Floyd gets a lot of flack, but his two toughest/controversial fights got immediate rematches
I had it 7-5 Floyd. It was pretty close. On paper, people said it would be a schooling cause Maidana was slow and crude.
Did they? Many had the Oscar fight a very tight contest. Floyd ducked the rematch even though it would have done even bigger numbers. Pacquiao fight was also close and filled w/ controversy (Pac's injury, Floyd's illegal IV use). Also would have broken the first fight's numbers. Don't come at me like Floyd's about honor because Maidana still couldn't wear his preferred gloves in the rematch.
Maidana won 4 of the first 6 rounds but did nothing in the second half of that fight he blew his load pbf was cut early and it took him awhile to adjust to being cut for the first time in his career. 8-4 or 7-5 pbf.
"Put him in the same **** I'm in" seems pretty fair to me. Pac chose to fight and the fight was kinda trash so I doubt it breaks the first fights numbers. People know what they would be getting with a rematch. It wasn't close.
Pbf didn't duck the rematch stop! Oscar wanted the lions share of the purse and pbf told him to go **** himself it's one of the reasons why oscar is still bitter to this day. Pbf- pac wasn't close and not worthy of a rematch. Pbf would have beaten him even worse.
Of course it was close. Neither guy did much. But Pac stunned Floyd twice and ripped him with combos. Floyd landed mostly glancing blows and Pac was right there with him with the counters. Your distaste/disappointment for the lack of action drives your perception of the fight. You judged the fight based on it being shitty. Try basing it on meaningful punches landed.
