This is one for the ages. I’m finding it difficult to separate them. Neither is going to give ground, I think Sibson at his best has the sounder fundamentals he actually possessed a good jab his head and upper body movement was good. Benn as he moved on after his losses to Watson and Eubank became a bit cagier he could show decent skills when less reckless. It may be who’s got the best chin both could visit the canvas. I’m inclined to give this to Benn as he showed he could come back from being knocked down and hurt to prevail, I believe he would need to do this to win this by a mid or late fight stoppage. I say this with no real conviction though!
There are some rough moments but Sibson is the winner. A mid rounds stoppage for Sibson in a brutal war
Oh wow ! Why didn't I think of this ? What a tear up ! Sibson, at his best, was happy against guys who wanted to fight him. Kevin Finnegan fought a highly technical fight to win a decision and, of course, Hagler produced a masterclass but look at the Frankie Lucas fight. There's more than a bit of Lucas in the Middleweight Benn, intimidating and powerful but reckless. Sibson had a thunderous jab, the result of being a turned round southpaw, and could really damage an open target with it. Benn's heart and aggression would make it a nailed on classic but I see a wise beyond his years peak Sibson stopping the wild and open, if fabulously exciting, Middleweight version of Nigel around the seventh.
When I posted I was thinking of the Lucas fight Tony just a young lad didn’t mind a tear up with the tough guy that was Lucas. It almost swayed me, Benn’s a higher class tough guy though who can come back. Still I could wake up tomorrow and pick Sibbo!
I would pay good money to watch this.Very hard to call but just prefer Sibson think he wins on points
