There was nothing 'average' about his excellent performances against George Groves, Hassan N'dam N'Jikam, Rocky Fielding and Hadillah Mohoumadi.

Best ever? Probably a stretch. Hatton, Harrison would spring to mind before Smith but how much of that is a stereotype I don't know.
Smiths left hook upstairs is certainly dangerous - not sure how much body work he will put in Vs Canelo he's walking straight into the danger zone there .

If he can show that level of body work against more of the top tier fights he could well be up there though - i'm not sure we have seen the best of him yet.

Bar Groves, an absolutely poor list of opponents

Groves was shot to bits and rushed back off shoulder surgery to make the WBSS final date too.

I think Canelo takes Smith apart easily. He's looked weight drained the last few and at 6'3 that's a lot of body for Canelo to aim at.

    No, look at the opposition.

If Smith was levelling top 10 opponents with body shots then we can talk but until then.. nope, not remotely close.

You’ll see what a top tier body puncher looks like in his next fight.

His catch and counter left hook is his best shot, he times and throws is beautifully.

I agree though he is an outstanding body puncher too. I think his catch and counter will lead to him hurting Canelo at some stage. If Smith stops Canelo I would make the catch and counter the most likely way he does it.

I honestly can't wait until Canelo batters the crap out of Smith, I honestly believe he is one of the most overrated fighters in the UK.

Well if he was life and death against Ryder, it doesn’t auger well against Canelo.
