This will become a trend and a bad one. How many more retired champions do we really need to see getting jacked up on meds, they couldn’t take if they were actually boxing, just to slap box each other at fifty dollars a pop? Thoughts? Holyfield VS Tua 2021
I hear the next PPV will be something it’s going to be Big John Fury taking on Angel Garcia, Ruben Guerrero , Floyd Sr, and Teofimo Lopez Sr in a battle royal for attention supremacy!!! The winner will get to lay claim to talk about themselves more then there fighter sons.
The difference is Mike Tyson. He's more popular and well known than Pacquiao, Mayweather, and Oscar De La Hoya. Combined. Housewives and secretaries know who he is.
Mike Tyson is the name thatl'll draw PPV buys I've been asked in the last few months about these fight by a few non boxing fans who knew Tyson didn't even know Jones. I'm not ordering this at its best could be an entertaining exhibition but some will just order because of Tyson being in it. My prediction is a not very entertaining slow paced exhibition. Jones Jr has proved to be way passed his prime in recent fights and Tyson looked horrible in his last few fights before retirement I don't know how anyone could expect anything special from this match up.
It's weird but I still get the same buzz over tyson as I did watching him as a lad in the late 80's > Can't explain it, there's just something so intriguing about iron mike, always has been always will be.
I agree with this. Mike will sell this and it will make a dunt, but the next one and the next one will flop and then the whole idea will be quietly shelved.
yeah i agree it will not be a regular thing. He can do this now and it will sell ok. Future legend events will not work ass well but i dont think there will be too many more. Maybe one when they notice it dosent sell any more depending how this event looks. Anyway this is going to sell as people havent talk this much about boxing match since Fury - Wilder rematch
I'm all in favor of YouTube fights and MMA crossovers and comeback exhibitions if they're marketed honestly, the rules are appropriate, but importantly, that it's used to build up the next generation of legends by putting them on the card. "OK, you can see the ghosts of Tyson and ODLH, but while you're here, check out Ryan Garcia and Anderson"
Ultimately, this is a show, not a serious boxing match. And yet, I for one am really looking forward to the show.
