Tony Galento was the 1930's version of Chuck Wepner, both were Saloon bouncers. His claim to fame was fighting Joe Louis, Chuck's claim to fame was being the model for the Rocky franchise by losing to Muhammad Ali in 1975.
Frazier was just as influential than Wepner. Joe did everything Stallone wrote in the movie. The inspiration for the film is a bit foggy in my view.
