If RJJ beats Tyson now, does that give credence to prime RJJ beating 1991 Tyson?

The only question it answers is the one I asked myself when FMJ fought McGregor and I wondered if boxing could stoop any lower. A 40 something former super feather fighting at Jnr Middle against a guy making his debut in the sport and both allegedly earning nine figure pay cheques; both fighters' 'appeal' stemming from obnoxious personae. 'Can it get any worse?' I asked myself.

    Yes, apparently.

Sorry. My bad. Two 50 somethings who fought 60lbs apart from each other in their primes which were, what, 30 and 20 years ago. What's not to like about that?

It's lockdown, mate. Taken all the joy out of everything for me.

It's why many of us only watch boxing on old dvds. It's now a geek show at a circus.

On one hand, I get the idea where this is just a sideshow fight. But on the other, I don't think it's being sold as anything more than that. If it were being played up as a legit HW battle, and if the WBC made a "Double Diamond Elderweight" belt for it, then yeah, that'd be annoying, but as it is, it's fairly harmless.

We wouldn't have to dig up Marciano because he was entombed in a mausoleum above ground. Just like we wouldn't be able to dig up Archie Moore who was cremated.

What happens tonight means nothing at all. It is intriguing, but everything favors Tyson. He always did well against smaller guys. When he had trouble is when he was against a strong guy.

They should set up a Foreman/Holmes exhibition next. That may help us solve the puzzle of who would have won had Foreman not retired and they fought in 1979-1980.

Good God! We need to campaign right now for that fight. Those two are the last living heavyweight s from the jurrasic period, when big bad guys roamed the planet, fighting anything they could sink their teeth into.
Now only fossils remain of heavyweights from that golden era!

I dunno about that. Bruno was strong, Berbick was strong, Bonecrusher was strong, Ruddock was strong, Thomas was strong.

Because Drago beat (ok killed) Creed in an exhibition, that doesn’t mean he would’ve done the same to 1975 Creed.

Anyway, I have no idea how the boxers are going to approach this thing. Looking at them at the weigh in, they both kind of looked like they realized this was a bad idea.
