I've been mocked for this before but- in Joe Joyce I see Joe Louis (balance, timing, relaxed)

As per the thread title, I've mentioned this before (and been mocked for it) but JJ shows shades of Joe Louis. Excellent timing, balance and relaxed. Shows these attributes unlike any heavyweight I have seen in a long time. I think he only loses to Fury- who also shows these attributes but due to his twitch style, its just different...

    Go on - roast me

He's very, very calm. For the most part, it was positive, but that can translate into lethargic , slow reactions. He got caught by big shots, we can't overlook that.

Much more akin to old Foreman than Joe Louis, with all due respect

Very true - similarities with Foreman as well although only in his slow ponderous style. Foreman with his looping mummy style was a bit different. I'm thinking more - balance, timing, relaxedness was more like Joe Louis...

Joyce cant even dream with having louis right hand.

I cant agree, sorry. Louis is way more than calm in the ring. Way way way more than that, imho the best HW ever.

I am completely disregarding punch selection etc. I'm thinking his balance, timing, relaxedness. Bring on the hate, tho!

I dont hate anyone, I just dont agree. Imho louis is the best HW fighter who ever lived. 11 years in a row the champion of the world. And his right hand was given to him by the gods of boxing, best right hand I've ever seen in HW.

Joyce does not remind me of him. Sorry :(

And I like joyce, eh, dont misunderstand me.

I know you dont hate me bro I just mean generally "bring it on- roast me" :)

I agree. JL is the best ever HW. But I am excited about JJ and IMO his balance, timing, distance, calmness, are all elite level and we haven't seen this combination of attributes at such a high level in a long time @ HW.

I can't ever imagine Joyce doing something like this.

Louis had exceptional speed in his prime.

Yes JJ definitely doesn't have the speed. That is clear. Timing, balance and calmness though... can't be denied that he has that

I've said to you before the only similarity with Louis I see is how methodical he is in the ring, other than that they are very different fighters. Louis' stance is completely different to Joyce's, Joyce is far more unorthodox while Louis was text book for his era.

I agree that they are different in many ways. I'm talking specifically about balance, timing, calmness. Can you think of others who are as similar on these attributes?

Thats not a bad thing. Old Foreman was a wolf in sheeps clothing. Mike Tysons words , not mine
