If its good enough for Roy Jones, it's good enough for the "Tuaminator" David Tua is only 48 years old, after all.....
I don't know, I think it is mostly just Tyson doing the selling. If anything Tyson against another come forward puncher might generate more intrigue.
Roy was actually the perfect opponent. Fans want to see Mike be aggressive and throw punches with some force unlike in the Sanders exhibition. They also don’t want to see Mike lose or see old ppl hurting each other. So they need a big name boxer in his 50s who won’t beat Mike, but is defensively sound enough to not allow himself to get ko’d or hurt. I can’t think of a better person than Roy Jones. The problem is, Roy isn’t gonna just keep doing this every six months, and you can’t keep having goodwill “draws” every single time. Not sure where to go from here to be honest. Bowe and Toney don’t present well these days. Holyfield would probably end up in a legit shootout. Lennox and the Klitchsko’s have better things to do. Next best choice is to put Tyson and De La Hoya behind closed doors and let them see if they can get used to working together at an intensity DLH is comfortable with. If so put it on PPV. They are the same height and Tyson is only 220 now. DLH is younger and probably walks around at 200 anyway.
Tua is not on the legends level. You need guys who have nothing to prove. Tua is a guy who never quite made it to the top. Tua's a good guy though, he might be willing to play along. But I have a feeling "winning" would be too tempting for a guy that might still have some regrets. I think Wlad would be a good pick. He's a good guy and has nothing to prove. He'd be willing to play fight for a few rounds for charity.
