Terrible idea. He left the ring on a high note as Undisputed champ with an excellent match that he won. Bowe is in no condition to fight. Plus, the people here speaking about Vitali taking the fight seem to be missing the fact that Vitali is the mayor of the capital of Ukraine. He's way past boxing at this point, there's no way in hell he will take another boxing match. Hopefully this is just Lennox throwing chicken feed to the press.
I find it somewhat amusing that when ppl are comparing LL at 38 vs Vitlai they mentions that LL was "over the hill". Both K bros fought to 40+ and did well. But when the LL-Tyson fight is discussed many go on how LL matured and peaked late while Tyson peaked early. Which is it? LL might not have been prime at 38 but he was from "past it". He was fortunate Vitali sustained a bad cut. At first he wanted to fight Vitali again - or at least acted that way. Then he realized he would probably lose a rematch and retired.
He was also overweight and had almost no prep time for vitali. And lewis wasnt at his peak against mike tyson. Tyson was just way past him prime so it didnt matter
Why are people pretending Lewis actually wants this fight or wants to hurt Bowe, if he really wanted to hurt Bowe he'd have made the fight years ago when Bowe was begging for it and desperate for the cash and ended up fighting in some weird kick boxing fight to make some money. Lewis is talking **** and trolling people and people think he's serious? Oooh Lewis is one mean old dude for wanting to beat up a worn out punch drunk Bowe, when has Lewis ever been so mean spirited in or out of the ring?
Yeah, and he did the same things against Calvin Jones and Michael Grant. Lennox was REALLY mean dude, although it's not a bad thing for boxing. However, there was one fight in which he should have definitely been diaqualified - he hit Mike Acey with 3 power shots to the head while Acey was down. RJJ was disqualified for lesser things: This content is protected
That's not mean spirited that's just doing what it takes to win a fight, while not nice, fighting isn't nice and most fighters bend the rules until the ref tells them otherwise. Bruno himself was known to hit and hold like many fighters do and he's another fighter who I'd say wasn't mean spirited or nasty. When did you ever see Lewis headbutt someone, low blow someone intentionally, sucker punch an opponent in a face off, bite someone one, have his team jump and try to drag an opponent out of the ring or hit them with objects. How many stories of Lewis getting into fights in bars or clubs, or assaulting members of the public? Lewis was often arrogant and would excessively manhandle opponents to win but he was never truly nasty or wished people harm or did people harm beyond the confines of a boxing ring like some of his contemporaries.
