Hearn made disrespectful comments and Warren made disrespectful comments - no deflection, just fairness.

The Whyte comments were a bit childish but I didn’t see any malice in it. Whyte has had plenty of digs at Warren. There’s a bit of a difference in mocking someone losing their mandatory position and accusing someone of making up a serious injury.

I don’t recall Warren pretty much accusing Brook of lying about his injuries.

My point was don’t come on camera in tears about a fighting losing his life through boxing then accuse another fighter of making up injuries and having digs about quitting. You either care or you don’t.

Obviously the camera doesn't show pain etc etc etc. But certainly I've lost count of the number of guys I've seen box on with injuries that certainly looked worse, even much worse. Normally I'm the first to defend any boxer but I do have to say Dubois didn't impress me with his courage, let's put it that way. By no means. Sorry to be so blunt about it but there you go.

Nobody will show the lack of heart Dubois did and get so much sympathy ever again.

It's a funny one alright! I'm genuinely amazed at the amount of (undeserved ) support the guy is getting. No engine, no head movement, and to be frank not much heart either. A huge physical specimen, a front runner, good ' bully', a fair weather sailor. But now the genie is out of the bottle. Future opponents know that if you can do the basics, ride out the initial storm, and keep jabbing, he is beatable.

By the way, Joyce is awful. Plain awful. Just a big wooden brute, that's all. Even his "best" ( ie only!) punch, his jab, is thrown with awful technique.

Can’t argue with much of that.

I thought Joyce boxed really well. I was really impressed with his footwork and his jab was really accurate. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it was some master plan but it was very simple and effective...don’t let Dubois set, keep him turning and keep popping him with the jab. Joyce knew that Dubois was waiting for him to throw the right hand and that if he did throw it he was leaving himself wide open for the counter. Not seen him fight like that since the Lewison fight. Credit where it’s due.

He quit, there is no other way to interpret.

He wanted to save his eye, but at the same time he doesn't want to implement any head movement or defensive techniques in his training, he is asking for his face to get marked up.

The conversation is weird because objectively he quit. How else would you explain it?

It needs to be more focused on whether he deserves the criticism coming his way, and that clearly is a no from me personally.

He could have taken a bodyshot and sat it out and people wouldn't be lambasting him as much as this. We have all seen body shot finishes which for all intents and purposes were quit jobs but nobody ever really gets peltered for allowing themselves to be counted out by a bodyshot.

I wasn’t aware of that, I’ll have to read up on it. He goes down in my estimation if that was the case though.

He could've quit from a bodyshot IF Joyce had thrown one. But he didn't.

Arguably, relatively speaking, for a man his size, Joyce could be said to have shown decent footwork. He is huge and obviously very resilient. Head lijke a lump of granite.

Don’t see you post so much these days, Len, hope things are good with you. Your favourite fighter Callum Smith out in a few weeks, looking forward to your posts on him haha :)

Yeah twentyman, due to the "killer Pandemic" shutting down boxing I've migrated over to the lounge if this forum where I've been busy debating social and political issues, largely with morons....er I mean other posters! :). Seriously though, There's a lot of interesting stuff discussed by interesting guys Actually an intelligent fella like you or Jurgen would make a massive contribution in the lounge, I feel. Ever considered giving it a go?
I'm very busy at work too and finding it hard to summon up the time and energy to get excited about boxing , particularly in Ireland , at the moment. Plus obviously I'm not as young as I used to be. Knackered after a days work these days!. :)

When the dust settles i dont think dubois done too badly tbh. Dont get me wrong it turned out a nightmare for him in terms of losing to someone he was expected to beat. But in hindsight that someone was an olympic silver medalist with an extensive amatuer record experience fighting hrgovic, usyk, jennings etc. Joyce is pretty much vastly experienced...he,s also probably hitting his peak. Whereas dubois is 23 years old without an extensive amatuer record and little real pro experience.

I dont get the quitting critism...he,d had enough injury or not. Its allright these boxers coming on calling him a quitter...but most of these guys like bellew folded when they went up against a higher level than them. Furys lucky enough hes got the skill to keep himself in a fight would probably be a different story if he was landed on all night without having the skill to avoid it. Look at chisora...not much quit in him...he pretty much did against fury the first fight. Roberto duran...not much quit in him apart from leonard. Its a different story when they go up against guys a level above them if there is a level above them.

Wouldnt hold it against dubois. Hes still a big prospect. Saturday night doesnt change that. Just think hes not as good as people we,re starting to believe he was....but people we,re starting to believe he was better than joshua etc. And joyce is probably better than people thought as well. Best i,ve seen him as a pro tbh. Think dubois lack of schooling made him look good as well tho.

A lot of work ahead for dubois but just went in too soon with an underated more accomplished guy. Still got a lot of tools to work with tbh. That fight will stand him in good stead as long as he has the heart for it and the injuries not too bad.

Thought it was great matchmaking from frank tbh...but in hindsight....its been bad matchmaking so early in dubois,s career without the necessary fights needed. Desperations led him to it. Dubois was two years away from that fight.

Can totally see franks thinking going in tbf tho.
