Agreed. The main difference between him and Joyce was that Joyce knew what It was like to fight someone who can take his punches and come back with their own, Dubois had no clue.
He should take off several months then come back against a C level fighter, if he had a broken bone around his eye that's a serious injury for a fighter. See Kell Brook and John Mugabi, he should get in the ring with a lower level fighter to see how this injury responds to actual combat.
I think the fans should stop trying to decide who he gets in the ring with - especially after a loss like that - considering DDD is the one hopping the ropes and putting all the work in.
He should get in with Otto Wallin. Maybe Wallin can finish what Joyce started and carve the eye right out.
It rings bells from years ago his career. Nearly every frank warren fighter was brought along the same way as Dubois, ****ed when they stepped up, fed overmatched opponents then a very good fighter an a set back to follow, no proper building
I was just thinking maruisz wach would have been a good bloke to fight before joyce. Iron chin, massive, will last distance but slow and shouldnt be much of a threat if you box properly. Dubois needed a big durable man to fight before joyce. Johnson was an okay fight, but he hasnt thrown a punch since 2012, and the gorman win was good at the time. but joyce was beating former world contenders, and hes the one who didnt need that experience. dubois needs to go back down to big tough european fighters, and skillful fighters.
however the heavyweight division is a hard one to rebuild in, youre gonna face danger in every fight youre in. Dubois vs Helenius would be a good fight after a few wins Dubois vs Washington another decent fight.
he should fight a guy good enough to go 10 rounds but not dangerous enough to be a threat to the eye I'm thinking a Jerry Forrest or an Alexander Dimitrenko, a Joey Dawejko or Johan Duhapas I think the last 3 have the power to damage the eye but it is likely that they will do just enough to get beaten If he cannot beat these guys he is in big trouble
i think dimitrenko is a bit past durable stage now. joey dawejko is a good one. not seen forrest fight but looks durable on his record, and can punch a bit. Duhapas maybe past it now aswell.
