Ali by decision. From what ive seen. Ali at his peak is as good if not better than prime larry holmes. The same larry holmes who did pretty decent in the 90s heavyweight division while he was overweight and way out of his prime.

Oh please, foreman proved that he can lose to any slick boxer with a good chin. I think nostalgia is the stupidest thing in here

Usyk would be a Norton type opponent, probably a tough night. Ali win by decision.

No, you watch the tapes and talk to the knowledgeable old time fans and they will tell you without doubt Ali had the fastest jab in history. There are interviews of famous trainers that said he was the fastest fighter they ever saw. YOU can go research it and read it. Download quora and read everything a poster John McGlothlin writes.

Not going to argue but this is a good “what if” fantasy matchup. Ali was awesome, especially when he was young. 33 year old Ali versus 33 year old Usyk would be interesting. Ali had a lot more miles on the odometer at this age. Usyk is still prime.

Wasn’t Ali this age when he struggled against Ken Norton? I bet Usyk would have beaten a young Leon Spinks (RIP) who only had about six fights under his belt when he beat Ali. Ali won the rematch and was older than Usyk but not much. At 33, Ali was stilll good but he was not the same fast young guy who dazzled the world with his brilliance. Anyway, interesting fantasy matchup. I take Ali but I’m biased for my favorites. Probably closer than many envision.

I think there should be a sub-forum labeled the DKSAB forum so these threads can be moved there.

I know some of you don’t wanna hear this and might even get your feelings hurt but modern guys have skill and can compete in other eras:eeek:

Yes in the movie "When They Were Kings' about The Rumble in the Jungle they talk about one of Ali's jabs being timed at an unreal 2/1000's of a second.
And it was measured at 25% faster than SRR.
It does seem to defy logic that even just considering hand speed a HW could be that fast, but it does seem to be the case.

To this day part of me still doesn't believe it, because as you said it does seem to defy logic, but after reading so many trainers, boxers, journalists, and historians first-hand accounts on the subject........... At some point part of me pretty much had to start believing some of it.

Based on the eye test Ali looks to have quicker feet, better head movement and just more fluid though Usyk looks more technical and calculated.

It would be an excellent chess match. I'd pay thousands to see it. I'd favor Ali but it would be competitive for sure

    Usyk has underrated defensive skills.

Do you guys really think that Ali could do his magic against his skills ?

But of course you do, "Legends" are untouchable, they cannot lose to anyone in the modern era and to even talk about it makes you a casual.
